Vocational Assesment

  Hello.
  
  I know that this is a combination of mental and physical assessment, but does it actually determine your vocation? When will you actually know? Any pointers on how to prepare for the physical part of it?
  
  So anyways, none of my friends know. They want me to report to pasir ris at 28 feb next month. They chartering bus.

  anyways i thought of giving a shot at being a pilot. do you HAVE to sign on? i heard a lot of people fall out of the pilot course when they go overseas to train during the first few months. what happens if you fail? recycle back to NSF status?
  
  however, if i don't pass the pilot course, will i get to choose another vocation? like air force tech or something?
  
  BTW, separate issue. lets just say one wants to sign on, is one able to sign on to ANY type of vocation available in the SAF/RSN/RSAF? what about civil defence? or SPF/Prisons (CID/CNB/STAR/SPEAR)?

  after air grading overseas to see u fit to be pilot regular (12yrs contract upon commission officer). if not, then considered fail course, the contract u signed is thus void and invalid. unless u regular, can, if not... then can't choose. if can choose, then y do u think some (most) pple are whining abt their destined heng sway nsf vocations?

  point of info... SAF is the tri-service, which is the Army/RSAF/RSN
  
  If you were enlisted into the SAF.. you can choose to sign on any of the 3 services and vocations. but this largely depends on yr qualification and skills.
  
  To join the Home Team, unless you were enlisted/posted there in yr NS career... you can only sign on SPF/Prisons after you completed NS in SAF.
  
  of course signing on as a Home Team scholar is different... that one gotta ask for more specific info

  me enlisting soon too. Like you i applied to be a pilot, but they sending me to another vocation. Anyone knows what to do if you are in my position?

  If you apply for pilot and they give you another vocation, don't sign on the dotted line.

  my brother too kana the same vocational assessment at that special ops tactics centre.
  
  im v worried for him.hes not interested in it at all!
  
  juz asking the laojiaos here..
  
  1)is it possible for him not to tio the commando vocation?
  
  2)how to? can purposely flunk the tests(IQ and physical test) so that he wun enter?

  Many people are not interested, not only your brother.
  
  He can either do very well in the test, and after the basic training, go on to be a Commado Officer or Sergeant. Or he can chose to screw up the test, and be an ordinary commando to be yelled at for the next 2 years. He does have a choice.

  hmm i heard that you can indicate to the interviewers that you have no intention to join commandos.
  
  all they can do is list u, suitable, Not suitable or very suitable
  
  i think the selection is not really up to them. I read from some ex-commando's blog.

  I also get the same letter to go pasir ris camp for check up.. Finish COMMANDO... I now starting to perpare to be one....

  The selection is not for commandos only, Guards too.

  You can maybe avoid Commados if you are the only son ..... I heard so.
  
  But avoid Commando and get into Guards isn't such a good idea either.

  So what the purpose of the VA at pasir ris camp ? Many ask commando but other have different view about it ... I am confused and could someone answer my queries?????

Btw, just to side track, with the reduced in BMT syllabus, I wonder has GCC reduce in toughness? I also was thinking how the xin jiao going to cope with the GCC since their BMT was slack.

  never heard of a guards selection. adf doesnt require one also.
  
  with the weakening of bmt training, why should we be surprised if they want to select? but at the same time, with lesser intake, they still want to select??

  How do they conduct this vocational assessment? What are the components? IQ and Physical only?
