Is the term Regiment phased out in SAF, thus we are using more of the term Brigade?
If it is so, then should the RSM be called BSM instead??
And tecnically speaking, shouldnt regiment be different from brigade?
Brigade is technically bigger than a regiment right? where Brigade consists of armour, arty, cbt engr elements, instead of only infantry? -

BSM refer to Battery Sergeant Major for Arty units, that is equavilant to CSM (Company Sergeant Major).
For Brigade and above, its address as Brigade Sergeant Major, Division/Formatiom Sergeant Major, Army Sergeant Major and SAF Sergeant Major. -

yup i heard of the division SM, Army and SAF SM.
So, there IS a brigade SM....
But SAF like to differentiate from battery SM, so retained the RSM instead of Brigade SM? -
the term regiment is phased out from the sgt major appt except Battalion level appoitments... where the sgt major is called Battalion RSM, or RSM in short.
There is a BSM and that is the Battery SM from Arty, equal to the Infantry CSM.
There is also a Brigade SM for all active and NS brigades, who, in short is called Bde SM.
