calling a 2LT NSF by their names

u being a pte/lcp/cpl/3sg... have u called a 2LT NSF by the name, instead of sir or leftenant xxx? Esp. the officers in ur unit or coy which u r friendly with..
actually can right?, if they dont mind...
or have u come across officers who ask u to call them by the names instead of sir here sir there? -
I got a friend 2Lt.He was walking with a new 2Lt.
I called him by his name and he responded.
The new 2Lt looked at me sternly and said,"Hello,can u see the rank on his shoulder?Dunno how to greet a officer ah?"
My friend den said"he my friend leh,i allow him to call me by my name."
Overheard him whispering to my friend"Dun like that leh.I helping u leh..
The look on the new 2Lt's face..

But of course, he shouldn't done it in public. If they were in together in a private palce with only 2 of them around it's perfectly alright. -
All depends on circumstances and the officers.
Usually when got higher ups, better to zhi dong. -
Depends on the circumstances.
If I'm talking privately with a 2LT friend, I will call him by name.
Otherwise, if other officers (or my encik) happens to be around, I call him 'sir'. -

Hmmm, come to think of it, I never called and 2LTs "Sir" before except in BMT or on course.
Its either I go up to them and say out things which need to be relayed or just walked past them.
Normally I would start the conversation with "ermm excuse me...."

Depends, if I am wearing civilian wear and the officer is my friend, I can call him by name. Ditto if vice versa.
If in unit mess, no ranks between friends.
While on parade or on duty, mind the ranks please.
While on the field, kindly stick to call signs. -
then how shld a 3SG address the other Sergeants? for example a 3SG adressing a 1SG. how ah? SSG and MSG still ok, but 2SG and 1SG leh? how to address from a 3SG point of rank?

It's just like if you made a mistake in front of many people. Your friend as a 2LT will have to 'whack' you on the spot so that he performs his duties and show impartility.
If at any situation, should he be able to 'save' you from the problem. He can/should.
If not, he's a 2LT.
Yup, very much depends on situation.
You don't expect to call your 2LT friend when he's talking to CO or a Major mah. -

last time i was a private (before going onto CPL and 3SG)
then i got a neigbour cum ex schoolmate who was a 3SG at that time
i just walked past him and called his name
i think his fellow 3SGs diao me -
must see situation...if formal place and activity, must add rank...
if informal place like the toilet...who cares...
