calling a 2LT NSF by their names

  last time we also very friend with all the enciks and officers in all units in seletar.

  My 2IC happens to be my secondary school class mate.
  
  It was kinda a role reversal thing because back in sec sch he looked up to me because i was the class better students who volunteered to help teachers teach them privately to prepare for Os.
  
  So it was an awkward period for us....
  
  so i don't call him Sir. nor i call him by name. haha
  
  call him "2IC"

  i called my friends (pri/sec/poly) by their names (whatever ranks) when i happened to see them in other camps... just like casual talking outside... if like have like the person beside him see me like @@ (as others mentioned), i'll add in say to my friend 'never see u since sec sch liao'.

  not really la. but i doing admin for my office, so tend to meet alot of ppl in my camp. just chit chat with them lor. i believe there should be some ppl who mix around alot in their own camps.

  Even if it was my friend, I would still acknowledge his rank. Indeed, I have done so to my JC friends who were in the same unit. It is only when alone, when there are no others around, that we let down our guard and behaved as friends.
  
  You also want to preserve discipline among the other troops.

  This happend during the older days when SWO rank patch was sewn only on one side, and that section commanders are only corporals.
  
  I was a new corporal posted to my unit when I met this old unker-looking private soldier near the guard house. I thought to myself :" wah, so old still chao private!", proceeded to ignore him and walked by him... Actually I was even thinking of chiding him for not greeting me... but something by the way he looks prevented me from doing that.
  
  I have barely taken 3 more steps when the unker-looking private called me back. I turned and faced him... and noticed his SWO rank patch when he also turned and his right profile became visible. It happend that the unker is my RSM!
  
  My legs turned into jelly there and then.
