so heavy and i think its quite slippery. the soles are meant for better traction on mud, sand or soil. not tiled floorings. -

my singapore Gore tex review:
pro:
panama sole really good multi purpose soles.
die die will grip like siao in mud,wet grass and off road.
Self cleaning, mud very hard to gunk up the whole sole.
6mm bb pellets WONT get stuck in sole.
gore tex ... great breathability, great for rainy days.
Great for the wet winter in Taiwan.
Great show off item when i Airsoft.
looks real formal .
cushion rox compared to taiwan boots.
Super comfy compared to taiwan boots.
great for hiking/mountaineering in Taiwan.
con:
Sibei slippery on shiny polished tile floor.
not 100% waterproof, not for river crossings.
ex. 100SGD can buy merrel gore tex.
no desert(brown ,tan) color avaliable
mine start to have signs of leather and glue cracks after 1 yr. (normal?)
artificial leather scratches very easily.
trust me, if you get bridgedale merino wool/coolmax socks to go with the GT boots, you will DUMP the army issued socks, they suck major balls.Weakest link in the foot system. -
Try wearing your Gortex through the airport, the metal detector will go off and...............................you spend your time walking around the airport bare footed!!

There are boots that do not use a metal stabilizer shank, thus eliminating the 'metal' detector. Saw those boots at the last airshow, including safety toes without using steel, very lightweight. Beach Road market got sell.

I love SAF leather Boots.... Last Dec was a raining season.. I wear it to work everyday and My foot are very dry and really keep me warm and comfortable in office...... Wonderful...
I still have 2 pairs but not yet season... still thinking how to season it fast.....

-not much ankle support
-toe part not enough protection(i accidently kick a stone, dam pain) -
Perhaps, we can conclude that Gore-tex is more suitable for civilian use than for combat ops and training.

As for ankle support you very correct I last time managed to get blisters wearing gortex during civilian wear.
But some people say goretex doesn't keep you dry... I don't know how come they said that, because my goretex kept me dry when I was walking 1.5km home in the THUNDERSTORM without umbrella... (Maybe my goretex happen to be of special quality ) -
