I have some questions to ask the old birds here.
1. Would a NSman confirm get summoned back to camp during man mob period? I heard that mobilisation rarely happens, about once every 2-3 for a man. How true is that?
2. Is there any issued items required to bring during man mob? Can I bring a normal bag instead of my smelly old fieldpack to carry my stuff?
3. What to expect during man mob? i.e. Time wasted, registration procedures, how long the damn thing would take, etc.
4. What's the time allocated for us to report back to camp? Consequences of being late for valid reasons?
Thanks for any feedback.
P.S. Can we have a FAQ for reservists? I'm new to this form of slavery.
1. Yes it is possible, especially if it is your first mob manning. And be more on the ball during your first manning, cos they will most likely check your fullpack items. But usually, you will receive "advance warning" if an activation is emminent. They will call you a few days or weeks before that to tell you to expect an activation.
Mobilisation happens, I think, on average about once every two years. Depends on which unit you are in, if it is a combat side be prepared to be bit more on the ball.
2. Bring your fullpack, SBO, and helmet. Ensure that your fullpack items, mess tin... are all there. Go in no.4.
3. Depends. Sometimes if your CO is on the ball, he will want the entire company to be back before they can be released. Sometimes, it might be platoon or even section level. And if they want to check your fullpack items (esp if it is your first recall), it will take a while longer. Worse if have to draw ammo. But usually you just sign your name and wait for dismissal - can take anything from half an hour to 3 hours.
Usually "men" get to go back earlier than the commanders.
4. Time allocated I think is about 4 hours, correct me if I am wrong though. It should be ok if you are late with a valid reason, just make sure you call and tell your PS or PC or whoever is in charge of you. If you fail to turn up without any valid reasons, they may send people to look for you at your place. You'll be charged with MIA.
Hope it helps.
