anyway it way before.
Yes......most likely a decade before 93.
Jockey Caps
---------------
Trooper in the middle - early model jockey cap (non-camouflaged) that soldiers liked to fold to get the V-shape, for more shade. These caps tend to fray at the front after a while. They were SAF standard issue. (early 80s)
Trooper on the left - He is wearing the jockey cap (non-camouflaged) favoured by the school instructors and regular NCOs. (early 80s)
Trooper on the right - Camouflaged jockey cap. Most probably got it through his own effort.
Webbing
-----------
Trooper on the left - Kiwi-ed blackened belt.....he used this for drill sessions before. 1st generation ammon pouch for 30 round mags. Buttons on the side of pouch used for M203 grenades. Water pouch is of type that uses metal hooks for attachment to belt. Overall, webbing is the old type.
Boots
--------
These boots have smooth toe caps. (again - early 80s era)
Uniform
----------
Camouflaged No. 4 uniform - Same as those handed out to every trainee at their simple passing out ceremony at old sniper wing.
Weapon
----------
Soldier on the right - M16 carbine was the standard weapon of trackers.
Joshua1975, trackers reported to the same level as you do now, operationally.
