Frankly, it is not comfortable to have long hair in the army. You can have a GI cut and if it's done well, you can still look alright.

Everyone going to Ns will get their hair cut to the standard military style... Unless that is your father amry then maybe can get exempted....

Unless you're on service side then you might be able to keep longer hair than those on combat side. If you're going ORD in like 1-2 months time can straightaway don't cut already. But I think different camps different units different departments got different rules and regulations.
For example I'm a Signal Storeman I cut like once a month only, still able to have side-parting with frinch not over your eyebrows.
