I wonder why lamp-post and signboards are always so expensive. In any car accident bills, public property are most often the most expensive item. If you are involved in a car accident, its better you hit the car in front then try to swerve and hit some public property.

You mean if public property is damaged it is always 100% the crash driver's fault? Well, public property such as lamp-posts are stationary objects, and therefore, if a car crashed into them, someone's at fault. It need not necessarily be the crash driver, he probably got to prove that someone else is liable. I am just saying that the costs of damage to public property is tremendously high.
