Sure you may get the chance to be officer or sgt...Originally posted by falcon88:I was just wondering if university graduates get treated any differently in NS i.e. do they get the chance to become officers? etc. I'm currently in my second year of university at UWA. It does not guarantee you a shot into OCS. You might be placed into the same pool for either specialists or OCS selection, but it is not a guarantee.Originally posted by falcon88:I was just wondering if university graduates get treated any differently in NS i.e. do they get the chance to become officers? etc. I'm currently in my second year of university at UWA. chill out mate, i was just asking a question. i've been living in australia for last 18 years so i don't know a lot. why are you so cranky? Did you lose out to a uni graduate??? or are you just kiasuOriginally posted by GenX:what makes you think a uni grad should be treated different?
You think just because you have a degree you big fcuk?
want to be officer?Sure show you have leadership skill....Degree not = leadership skill......
why do u keep editing your post?Originally posted by falcon88:chill out mate, i was just asking a question. i've been living in australia for last 18 years so i don't know a lot. why are you so cranky? Did you lose out to a uni graduate??? or are you just kiasu
nah..not that anyone of us gets a tad fussed up over u, juz that the way u put it..."...university graduates get treated any differently in NS.." has invoked that bit of agitation in some of our forumites here.Originally posted by falcon88:chill out mate, i was just asking a question. i've been living in australia for last 18 years so i don't know a lot. why are you so cranky? I dunno... trying to find a kangaroo to root I guess. just jokes mate.Originally posted by SexyChin:Hmmmm..........
WHAT THE FU.CK ARE YOU DOING AT AUSTRALIA FOR 18 YEARS???!!!!
I didn't say that I want to serve NS but I am considering it though. If I don't, I will have to renounce my citizenship which is not a decision to take lightly. Patriotic? I may not have lived there for long, but I was born there and have family living there. Those are enough reasons to give it some thought.Originally posted by WoBuPaNi:so... you're born in singapore and u flew off immediately to aust just to study and u wana come back to serve ns? how patriotic
FYI, I've answered your question in my earlier reply. And it's not a "may have", it's a "must have".Originally posted by falcon88:When did I say that I should be treated like a KING all because I have a degree??? I never said that. I was merely asking an honest question which seems to have been answered. I was just curious and that's all. Calm down, take a chill pill .
Btw, the reason, why I meantioned what that I go to UWA was to let people know that I don't live in Singapore and thus am asking a question which may seem obvious to some of you. Stop jumping to conclusions...
"Why should I comeback after 18 years?" I haven't decided anything yet... I'm merely considering/pondering my options.
"Why do I keep editing my post?" because I was a little irritated at what GenX said in his post. He seemed to accuse me of being high and mighty all because I have (or will have) a degree. Like I said, I was just asking a question out of curiosity.
Apparently you dun even realise they have a 10% GST over in OZ.Originally posted by KenPlus:don't come back, stay in aust better,GST increase to 7 percent on july
Whether you be an officer or be a man also like that , also waste your two year of youth, you could have use the 2 yrs to stay in aust and work to earn more money.

It all depends on the superiors, Instructors, PS, PC and up the line. But most likely you'll be given "special" treatment in the form of sarcasism.
"Oh you're a graduate? Time to see if graduates can perform guard duty up to par"

It's not about whether he wants to stay on or not. If he does not come back to serve, and even if he has Australian citizenship, visiting Singapore on business in the future may land him in a huge problem, i.e arrested upon arrival.Originally posted by jianfish9:18years? Why not apply for a citizenship there? Unless you are planning to come back to Sg to stay on.
Personally, I don't think 2years in exchange for a stay in Sg is worth it when you got an alternative, perhaps even a better one coz I now people that would give up 2years to escape from Singapore.
Anyway, why the hostility against Uni grads here. Its not like he is here to look down on you.
Correct, I'm not here to look down on anyone. I have no problems with being treated the same as everyone else. I hope this clears it up.Originally posted by jianfish9:Anyway, why the hostility against Uni grads here. Its not like he is here to look down on you.
