Only fatal when used to scratch balls. But some of these bayonets ( rare old types) are made in US and they are really sharp.Originally posted by DarthBart:Eh...
SAF bayonet use for prodding mines nia...
Other than that... Maybe use for scratching
CDO knife is smaller and thinner in the blade, the reason it need that because it need to be hidable, faster on the draw for action and finally it is design to be throw as a flying dagger to kill a enemy if needed.Originally posted by sir sickolot II:i think he's tryin' to say that bayonet was not written correctly on the topic.
in any case the CDO stilleto (or however you call it) is sharp on both sides. very useful for cutting throats. This is in line with the CDOs use of sneaking up from the enemies' behind and killing them 'assasin' style.
the bayonet is mainly used for stabbing. hahaha... reminds me of BCCT
What's with the rolling eyes?Originally posted by guard_01:and why are commandos issued special knife?
During the indochina war, in the jungles, a Gurkha used a kukri to chop off the head of a giant python snake that attacked and coiled itself around the body of another Gurkha soldier, and saved the soldier's life.Originally posted by Short Ninja:Because of its shape, length and weight (heavy at the front)this one is deadly and multipurpose. From the Ghurkas we all came to know it as the Kukri but even some ethnic people like the padang in Sumatra use it under a different name. The origin of this blade can be traced back to ancient Greece.
Kukri good for defending against python snake attacks in the dense jungle.Originally posted by norm:During the indochina war, in the jungles, a Gurkha used a kukri to chop off the head of a giant python snake that attacked and coiled itself around the body of another Gurkha soldier, and saved the soldier's life.
Gedanken the CDO speaks!Originally posted by Gedanken:In any case, killtuna is half-right. The stilettos are kept in the armskote and rarely, if ever, drawn out, but they are in fact issued. For daily use, I replaced my bayonet with a Gerber Mark II as a fighting blade, and I carried a Swiss Army knife along as a utility knife - it was a lot handier than any kukri or gung-ho rubbish Jungle King.
At the end of the day, it's a tool, as much as a changkul or an L-torch is. No big deal unless you're a glory hound, and there's precious little space for that at Hendon.
the stiletto cannot throw. it isn't designed to throw. I know because I have one. there are knives made specially for throwing.. go google it.. they look diff.Originally posted by storywolf:CDO knife is smaller and thinner in the blade, the reason it need that because it need to be hidable, faster on the draw for action and finally it is design to be throw as a flying dagger to kill a enemy if needed.
While banonet is different, it need to be a serve as a general knife also thus the design is different.
Kukri is the best work knofe, different part is design for different purpose, hammer, cutting, chopping .... etc.
Knock out people.... I don't think it's possible to "learn" it per se. It comes with experience.. more of an intuition that "he's off-balance now, can't block, hit him hard". Your signature put "Ex-TKD". Then maybe you would have noticed before that many people can stand on two feet, but half of them are not actually 100% balanced, they put more weight on one foot or something (Our MRT is good example ). I can't describe to you how I know whther they are balanced or not although all are standing with 2 feet planted firmly on the ground. somehow the brain will just take in everything and process it for you.Originally posted by guard_01:Thx for the replies guys....
will be taking note of the above...
(i never actually learned to knock out people by the way)

It's a tool. It makes a hole in someone you don't have much particular reason to like. It doesn't have to be perfectly weighted, John-Woo-approved, ergonomic or hypoallergenic.
Originally posted by Shotgun:In this case, I'd say a lightsaber would lethal and legal to carry.
You get a full length blade and a fraction of the weight, cuts through flesh like hot knife thru butter, and can always lie that its just a torchlight.
*Some assembly required
**Batteries sold seperately
I am not sure about SAF.. I have been out of there for some time.Originally posted by |-|05|:why are folding knifes with a locking device banned?
The SAF new issued knife has a locking device but i hear it's banned or something also or the recruits cant use....why?
You're correct, it would cause hurt. (I know what you're talking about). The thing is the blade is not strong enough and will snap after the first hit.Originally posted by Shotgun:True. But its possible to cause serious injury without hurting the fingers. Dunno how to describe..., its like the blade is on the outside of ur fist (grabbing the jackknife hilt), and blade pointing outwards. The slashing motion would be sufficient to cause grievous hurt.
Any object, when intended to be a weapon, will become a weapon despite is harmless origin. Glass bottles weren't made as weapons but can become one.
sure anot..my coy duno how many people bought the stiletto ..but they got take down the particulars think must register or what..Originally posted by chanjyj:the stiletto cannot throw. it isn't designed to throw. And FYI to everyone.. STILETTO IS NOT FOR SALE IN SG. You are breaking the law if you purchase it privately. Same goes with thantos, gravity knives, flick knives and bayonets (foreign bayonets like American M9 bayonet included) all not allowed for sale in SG)
(don't ask me where I got my stilleto from :mrgreen
