[Refer] BMT POP Posting Orders FAQ

  Hello forum ,

  So im a lowly storeman and the company im posted to is going to taiwan for 3 weeks and i do not want to follow. I have a medical appointment for the problem at my feet and a surgery as well ( maybe , stated in letter ).
  
  Will i be able to get out of the taiwan trip if i manage to put up a 'good' word for myself ?

  Wa lao eh how come nowadays soldiers like that one... Its just 3 weeks in taiwan plus you're a storeman so whats the worst that can happen?

  You can try asking your officer if you're that desperate.. but I hope for the sake of the SAF that you just suck thumb and go.

  I have been posted to IMOS as a NVL CBT SYS OPR(TRAINEE). 

  I assume this is a stay-in unit, and I have been transferred to the Navy? How is life there in IMOS, is it more relaxed compared to BMT? Is there more emphasis on book learning? Will there be chances of promotion to command rank?

  You are posted to 2 SIR Your vocation is INF CARRIER VEH OPR(TRAINEE) Special Instruction No Camera Handphone is allowed. You are required to bring along your duffle bag / field pack complete with the SAF issued items given during BMT. You are expected to stay in.
  
  so wad is this vocation abt? It seems like a driver of some sort bt why do i need to stay in? Also any advise on wad to bring as SAF issued quite a lot of items

  in short, NVL = navy; OPR = operator = enlisted man

  rank: recruit - private - lance corporal - corporal, then ORD.

  Aw man, at least i am driving something cool i guess. Is the stay in only for the training period all do i have to stay there for my 2 years?

  EOD is explosive lah. Dismantled of bomb etc lah.
