First week at air force school does not require you to stay in, so don't need duffel bag/toiletries. ure will have ur CEC ( common engineering course) PLUS
NDP SAIKANg so expect ur saturdays to be burnt
hope or do whatever u deem necessary to post out or at least get posted to plant company after CEC if u want a better life
otherwise after CEC
ur FPC begins ( 7 week intensive field pioneer course)
those posted to plant coy after CEC ( count ur lucky stars)
go to nee soon camp for bout 9 weeks to learn to operate ur plant machinery -

You are not going to be an arty gunner, instead your vocation is a GA(gunnery asst).
What u are going to specialise in is TOTALLY different from what a gunner do.
Your basic job scope is to learn the calculations and also to familiar yourself with the computer system which is able to accurately pinpoint our arty firings.
SOC and IPPT will be taken during course time but that is kept to a minimum. However be expected to go for another 12,16 and 24km marches, not to mention various navigation and tactical route marches -

It seems that I'm posted as an ATEC rifleman but surprisingly for a rifleman I am not required to report there with the SAF issued items. So does that mean I don't have to wear LBV etc? Or will they issue new items for me?
What do I carry my personal items, toiletries etc in when I report there tomorrow? Can I put them in a field pack since I don't think CV bag is allowed.
And yeah I know ATEC is a stay-in unit. -

as the name suggests, 155mm SPH (21SA)means 155mm self propelled howitzer. other arty units use towed guns.
although common sense tells us that arty is always behind our own troops and not at the front line, gunners still have to do SOC and IPPT, but you will be glad to know that u do not have to do anymore route marches. -

I am sure the posting order is for 21SA located at Kranji camp. You will be trained in the operating and combat role of a primus gun crew. You will either become a ammo loader, a driver or ammo carrier for ur NSF duty.
However, rest assured that the primus is a very modern weapon so manual labour is minimum. However, be warned that one Arty round is about 40kg and you WILL have to carry it.
Expect alot of PT from th unit. 21SA works with the principle of ultimate fitness. So expect to get Gold in your IPPT by your second yr window. And yes expect alot of SOC.
Your course will be about 10 weeks with an exercise GIant to determine which role suits you best. Drive well, and enjoy the course or it will be sad.
And yes, you are going to Cavalier battery.
Btw, i was a detachment commander there not too long ago so i know the sytle of the battallion. -
