just sign on as an AirForce officier and you can get whatever info you needed.Originally posted by borntolive:i was wondering how do our airbases respond against militraty threats?
i heard those fighter plane airbases store their jets underground and they also have gun turrents, missile turrents etc to defend their airbase.
any information?

There are some AMRAAMs (Advanced Medium Range Air-To-Air Missile) that fly close to Mach 2, so it's possible to defend...Originally posted by aiglosicicle:btw is it actually possible to defend properly against fighter jets now? a lot of jets fly close to the speed of sound... are anti-air missiles that fast? haha
this is not good.Originally posted by Cro-Magnon:Woe will be the day if you need to defend your airbases against opposing aircrafts....
But against commando style attacks...hmmm...
actually AMRAAMS have a max speed of March 4, definitely able to out-manoevre out-pace any modern fighter jets on afterburners.Originally posted by dork3d:There are some AMRAAMs (Advanced Medium Range Air-To-Air Missile) that fly close to Mach 2, so it's possible to defend...
However, it all boils down to the radar watch to detect early...
you don't spell it so clear to him, what is located in the west area, right........Originally posted by ProudlySingaporean:actually AMRAAMS have a max speed of March 4, definitely able to out-manoevre out-pace any modern fighter jets on afterburners.
i thought singapore got this layered structure of air defense, with interceptors forming the outermost layers. iHawk missles with pK0.85 the next sphere of defense then followed by low level defenses like rapier, iglas, mistral, oerlikon AA guns etc.
then there's also those hardened hangars, command centres etc with reinforced runways that help our airbases better absorb the first wave of attacks.
even if runways are demaged, there are rapid runway repair kits available that will allow us to remove the damaged runways and lay out a new one in a short-time span. i'm sure our runway repair guys are thoroughly honed in their expertise such that they'll be able to carry out the repairs quickly to allow more RSAF planes to be air-bourne flying retaliatory sorties against the enemy.

If you can see a target approaching from far on your radar screen that can scans a radius of 100 nautical miles at a rate of one rpm, the FDS and our aircrafts will be scrambled to meet them...Originally posted by beavan:still, it's a big base with a very long perimeter.
thats different, USA need a reason to join WW2... so they let pearl habour for the jap as bait..Originally posted by dork3d:No system in the world is foolproof... Even with our multi-tier air defence layers, there still can be possibility that can slip through...
In 1945 when Japanese launched a surprise attack on Pearl Harbour, the radar man perceived the Japanese airplanes as flocks of birds...
We have FDS to defend our airbases, trust them in doing a good job...
u mistaken...Originally posted by Quiet Guy:This is interesting, why is PLAB having a "toy" dividsion unit
