The attending officer did not brief PM Lee. He was probably walking in front, escorted by his counterpart. Nobody prompt him to stop in front of the Colours, so he carried on walking. Different countries got different customs, and if Germany expect everyone else to know how to stop in front of their Colours, good luck !

And just to clear things up once and for all, that guy did not have a bayonet affixed because he's the left marker of the contingent. The left and right markers are specialists and don't have bayonets affixed. I think you can trust the Provost RSM to know how to take care of such things. They are the Provost after all. If not them, then who? -
Provost RSM should know better to check on his men's attire - upside-down IPPT badge ?

The Crown Prince of Bahrain looks like he also notice the bayonetless rifle, and is wondering hard about guards of honour, "Do guys at the end have a bayonet?"
