Considering the SAF-Poly sponsorship? Please advice?

i am currently in computer enginnering course.I am thinking of taking up JPSDS. i heard from many frens that the life in SAF is not good.I have always been facinated by air craft thats why i want to enter the air force. Can anyone advice me to take it or not to take it?

join as a Senior Tech in the Airforce.
But with your diploma, and considering the job market... you could get yourself a job easily... and maybe one that deals with air crafts too... -

why are things different in SAF, dont they treat us like technicians?

sai kang zui...duty zui....extra zui...wkend burn....regiemental life....no OT money....admit it man guys..this is reality of SAF...since when the do treat us like human beings when even govt dun treat us as first class citizen...

I am repeating what I said in another thread:-
Graduate on your current course first,
Then go do your BMT,
Then post to unit,
Experience SAF unit life.
then at the end of the day you say
"HMMMM, I quite like this kind of life" Then go ahead and sign on, it is still not that late.
Or u find it sucks and say
"Army LIFE SUX BIG TIME!!!" Then just lan lan serve the 2 years and fug off.
Please dun ke kiang and go for the sponsorship, then during ur BMT/Unit life, u totally find it sucks then u are no longer in a position to say
"I want to serve the 2 years only"
because u are in more deeper sh*t than those sign on later.
Why? Because once u are under sponsorship from them, they start paying u monthly salary during ur poly time. To you, this seems a GREAT IDEA! WAH SEH! study and got money to spend!!!
But to SAF, this is their insurance policy because once u try to quit, they will force you to pay this money back to them. LPPL.
So what u can do? U lan lan serve the 10 year bond lor in a job that u find it sucks.
So think first, dun do something that u regret for the next 10 years. -

mine: DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT.
don't be fooled by those fancy tv or print ads on the mrt. for that 10 mins of fame/recognition requires 10 months of work.
But if u wish to join the non-military civil service, i will encourage u to consider. -

the money is attractive buy i recommend u go for bmt den decide whether u wanna sign on.

actually sign on is nt bad idea ma
considering ur pay is stable (No aws nonscense)
u comfirm get 2 mths bonus every yr
u get 21 days of leave when u reach a certain rank
and u get OFF days (which is rather not possible in corporate world)
U eat for free (The meal may nt be grt but it is edible la, western day once every week lei)
5 day work week
No overtime, well alot other companies also no OT pay
why so gd i dun sign on
first i dun like training and exercising
2nd i dun like cut short hair
3rd i cannot stand some officers or warrants whom think they are superemo but u cant do anithing as ur rank will always be the bottom
4th i dun like to do duty and stand by ops and overseas exercise
if u can stand all that, sign on is cool
for DIploma specialist, usually when u reach thirties u can reach rank of MSG
provided u dun screw up in ippt and ranking exercise
aniway i felt the best time to sign on is when u start poly or at least b4 bmt, or at the beri least during ur nslife
coz if u sign on after army is like Bo Hua lo -

i guess ppl take up the scholarship cuz there are not much options left. How many other companies offer diploma scholarship? The only other company i saw was nhg or smthing

u will earn back ur tuition fees when u started working post-ns within months if u find a diploma-level job.

dun sign on la.... there r many better job opportunities outside...
once u sign on....means u have to devote ur whole life to SAF... n u r on constant 24 hours 7 days a week standby -
no lah, not like that. it depends which unit you are in. you get posted around, sometimes in unit, sometimes in schools and sometimes in HQ, so no stand-by all the time. in HQ, if you are smart, its really a 8 to 5 job.
