Two SAF military officers deployed to Nepal as part of UNMIN
SINGAPORE: Singapore will deploy two military officers to Nepal as part of the United Nations Mission in Nepal (UNMIN).
Major Ong Chuan Hian and Major Siva Balan Subramanyam will leave on 11 May and will be deployed in the arms monitoring component.
UNMIN was formed to help oversee the Comprehensive Peace Agreement between the Nepalese Government and the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist).
To date, Singapore has contributed some 1,500 SAF personnel to UN peacekeeping missions.
The Foreign Ministry says this latest contribution is part of Singapore's continuing efforts to support UN peacekeeping and humanitarian missions. - CNA/yy
wonder why they wrote the way it is as I find it misleading at times.
