Screwed up ICT

My 1st ICT stint after 2 yrs... 1st thing that blew me is that the nitwitted RSM got nothing better to do... going after the haircuts of NSmen going for ICT... This is one damn thing I can never grasp... How the heck can a haircut portray the impression of sloppiness and ill-discipline, of NSmen? We need to maintain a similar neat & tidy outlook to face our customers/bosses too, and I don't see them complaining...
The same attention can be spent on more constructive and productive work... and that's what they're paid for. It's no wonder why many regulars are frowned upon... Bunch of wayang people who spoil the reputation...
So the same taxpayers are spending $$ to be fugged by their bosses for going ICT, jeopardising their promotions and getting fugged again by the slaves whom they are indirectly paying?!? Damned screwed...
Yah... some of you might just say, get a life and move on... Call it pride or something, but how many of you NSmen can take it lying down after been fugged over such a nitty gritty issue? It's not like we're NSFs... It's tough enough to drag yourself back every year, and I don't see the need for anymore such nonsense...
AND, I just got my hair cut a week ago... damn.... My rebellious side and "rights" as a citizen (do we have any in ICT?) is telling me not to conform. Any avenues to "shoot" those ball lickers and wayang nitwits?!! Will we kenna "punishments" for not "obeying" orders during ICT?? -

normally NSmen tt i've handled always book in in funny hairstyle, RSM will make alot of noise. ESP Tanjong Gul camp the RSM, sibeh kao peh kao bu...minor minor thing he oso wan to make noise... -

Cutting hair is no big issue, kicking a big fuss over it is silly and threatening us over it is unforgivable... Damn it, play rank with a civilian, and the civilian can only suck thumb?? Only SAF with its many "awards" and its ball carrying minions can deliver something that's so "world class". -

me MR liao, during my first ICT, discipline is the TOP. hair style, hair color, uniform color, rank, name tag etc ... all must in top shape.
until now still got NSmen kpkb about hair neatness.
think the TS may not be in combat unit, with the heat nowadays, shorter hair is best during ICT training field exercise.
for my 13 ICT, at least 5 out of 13 ICT got NSmen being charged for awol and disobey.
discipline and thinking soldier is SAF looking for, not tuang NSmen.
although discipline is TOP of our ICT, but we still can find entertainment and enjoyed the duration of our ICT.
si mi si ICT huh ?

the very basic for a military unit to function is to instill discipline. hair cut and uniform are the basic process of re-conditioning and transition the reservist back to being a soldier.
sometime when you are a civilian it takes a while to transit into a cohesive group especially 1st ICT. -
I do not totally agree with this hair-cut thing. It should be kept neat and tidy, hygiene, even if it means the guy's hair is so long that he has to tie it up.
The SAF got to accept what is social norm. How can you expect a rock musician to wear a wig everytime he completes his ICT for his work / performances ? He needs real long hair to jazz up his performances. -

it's part of our responsibilities lah ... we may be citizen soldiers, but when we put on that uniform, we're soldiers first and citizens second, right ? ....
we were all soldiers once, and we are the "graduated" soldiers, the lau chiaus, and so we should know what's expected eh, if everyone conforms and get a nice neat hair cut before going for ICT, then there needn't be any monkey business catching people's appearance and such eh .... -
If he does not need the hairstyle, he will be some famous singer. Aiyah! One year once only... Do and get it over with lah...
Me one year twice... Meet the same RSM at Pasir Laba Camp twice... Everytime reporting for ICT at the Guardhouse, he will be there to KBKB on our haircut by scanning down the queueline like a vulture circling above a corpse...
Then after that we just feedbacked to our CO and everything settled... So now the RSM doesn't KBKB anymore, he just politely asked us to cut and giving us some time allowance...
No doubt, ICT has impacts on our personal lives and career... Me's in the service line and most times, my ICTs coincided with school holidays... Company needed me, my family also needed me to be there, but me had to be in camp for ICT and can't be there...
So nowadays, me would try to talk to my CO as early as possible upon receiving my ICT callup notice, and seek his assistance in rescheduling me for other ICTs during the lull period or non school holidays period...
If there's really discrimination like 'blacklisting' and 'marking' against NSmen in companies, you can feedback to MOM on basis on discrimination... -
Well a few things can be done.
Go downgrade yourself. Its just a matter of will and money.
Earn a hell lot of big bucks. One of the reservist I know came back just as he was promoted to be a partner of a law firm. After that reservist where the SAF had to pay through their nose, I never did see him again.
Just go cut your hair. It will grow back one. -
take ICT as a break from work once a yr..n catch up with ur camp frens..

i got an idea to escape haircut...
before ICT like for 4 weeks, dont shave n let ur beard n moustache grow long long.
then when report for ICT, wear a turban.
if RSM ask u why, u said u converted to Sikhism. -
