He can request for other ICT periods... Deferment on work commitments is usually not granted, unles there are more than one person in the company going for ICT during the same period...Originally posted by krakadu:the guy should have deferred his ict, on the basis of work commitments.

Anyway, agree that sometimes the pay don't really matter but the odds are in your favour that way.
Last time a member of parliament came back for reservist in my unit. But then pay MP is like Govt take money from right pocket put into left pocket.
The thing is SAF prority is to defend singapore and that means it kills so it has a different set of logics that follow. such as obeying the commands. Do the most impossible task like charge against enemy position. So cutting hair is really a small token of that obeying the command in the line of firing.Originally posted by KoolKool:I do not totally agree with this hair-cut thing. It should be kept neat and tidy, hygiene, even if it means the guy's hair is so long that he has to tie it up.
The SAF got to accept what is social norm. How can you expect a rock musician to wear a wig everytime he completes his ICT for his work / performances ? He needs real long hair to jazz up his performances.
in any working sector has their own rules and regulation and discipline.Originally posted by nismoS132:some people do not have a proper sense of scale here.
we're not talking about NSFs that have to spend 2 years in NS. we're talking about NSmen that spend between a week to a month playing soldier. an NSF needs to have obey every single command because he is expected to be in that kind of environment for an extended period of time, he has to be conditioned to follow every single order no matter how stupid it is. but an NSmen doesn't, once his short stint is over, they have to go back to their daily lives which involve more important things. a hair cut is the least of it.
and the argument here is not about neat and tidy hair, but the analness of what is considered neat and tidy in the army vs in the real world.
