for now..only Maintenance Sec Comd n section 2IC who has attended MSCC will earn their spec ranks...which i tink is quite stupid even tho i'm a Sec Comd... My guys need their ranks so as to talk to Veh Comds as an equal..so as to recommend the actions required..or else if all veh Comds which as usualli 3SG in Armour pull rank n ask techies to do OM level stuff for them...then those which need Tech Level jobs like diagnostics and changing of power pack..troubleshooting..all awaiting manpower lah...lucky my batch of men are still 3SG in rank man haha the very last batch of us!...Veh Comd try to bully them...Bollocks to him! haha -
Your concern is with "A" and "B" Veh, and I definitely agree with you.
Mine's with armament systems, which makes it more vital that our tech specialists have the rank to stand on equal footing, or at least possess adequate authority to argue their case if a weapon is unfit for deployment.
Furthermore, weapon certification and ammo issues are always , eventually decided by NSFs.
The MSCC should be tweaked into a PS-level course instead. There's no gain to be had to reduce the authority of armament specialists when their intake is usually soldiers with some mild medical problems that already make them non-combatants in the first place.
The issue of using a combatant-related ranking system to apply to technical vocations is a simplistic look at a very large maintanence planning and enforcement issue. -

i'm a combatant, but i'm also aware of the need to have a strong technical and logistical support. Try fighting any operation without ammo or vehicles. We'll be gg in 5 mins. haha.
Although non-combat 3SG did not go through sispec and what not, they have attained a level of technical skills required to be a 'supervisor' and requires the rank to approve things. -

Anyway, I believe that Admin Specs are still granted 3SG after they pass the 45 code timeframe.
The issue here affects technical and engineering specialists. These are supervisors and system monitors. You cannot simply take their rank away and think that nothing will affect their onsite authority, let alone ops-time authority.
It will screw-up the entire maintanence and logistical support plan. In ops, I can agree Combat Support does require combat-fit technical specialists, however, the basic rank of 3SG should stay because in peacetime, they need to have the power and the authority to stand up for their vocational duties. -
non combat specs, imo, are much more essential since most enlistees are posted to non combat vocations..and they need middle hierarchy commanders to kinda "click" with them..then the pay currently how? the CFC takes the allowance of the now-defunct 3SG(non combat)?

CFCs are also granted to high performing CPLs in vocations where they are ineligible for a 3SG promotion. This is fine IMHO..
Service 3SG gets 560.. -

Service 3SG gets 560..
pte - 350 (go to $365 from 13th pay month from enlist date),
lcp - 370 (go to $390 from 13th pay month from enlist date),
cpl - 420,
cfc - 460
then with effect july 2007, $50 more will be credited across all the ranks. -

Anyway, now the SAF has a large number of over-ranked, under PES-ed tech specs. They can do two things, one is to let them continue in the reserves and FCSSBs, or simply revocate them, which is harder, given their PES and condition. -

cos NS is 24 months. minus 2 months for BMT left 22 months. after 1 year promoted to CPL left 10 months. minus 1 month to clear leave for ORD left 9 months.
by the time the CPL get promoted to CFC within this 9 months ORD loh.
