A Taiwan F5 had crashed, causing both F5 pilots to died. It is rumoured that the F5 had crash landed at Starlight, and had caused 2 servicemen on ground to died. It is yet to be confirm by the Taiwan Air Force that the 2 servicemen is from Singapore or Taiwan, or the plane had crash landed into Starlight at this moment. -
Oh my God. Hope we don't have our own personnel to be KIA in this way.
This is freaking an unlucking way to die in a non-combat situation. -

It is now confirm by the Taiwan Defence Minister that the F5 had crash land at Starlight. 2 Singaporeans are killed and 2 injured with 60% - 70% degree burn.

I also want to give my personal take on the incident. I saw the jet in its final moments. The pilots had time to eject. They chose not to. Instead, they flew their aircraft into the ground on the base, thus sparing countless hundreds of lives in the crowded Hukou area that would have been lost in the crash and subsequent explosion. -

At 9.25 this morning, a Taiwan Air Force F5F aircraft crashed into a storeroom located within a Taiwanese military facility, resulting in a fire at the storeroom.
Some Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) personnel, including Full-Time National Servicemen (NSF), were present in the storeroom at that time. The servicemen were there in support of the SAF's unilateral training in Taiwan.
Two SAF servicemen are injured and are being treated in hospital. Seven others have minor injuries. Two bodies have been found and their identities are being verified. The next of kin of the affected servicemen have been informed. The rest of the SAF personnel in Taiwan are safe and accounted for.
Minister for Defence Mr Teo Chee Hean expressed his deep concern for the affected servicemen and their families, and said that MINDEF and the SAF will do all they can to look after their well-being. He has also been in touch with the Taiwanese authorities who assured us that they will do their best to provide the necessary assistance to our personnel.
MINDEF and the SAF will be conducting an investigation. -

Two Singaporeans among four killed in Taiwan military jet crash
TAIPEI - Two Taiwanese fighter pilots and two Singaporean servicemen were killed Friday when a F-5F jet crashed into a military compound during an exercise, defence minister Lee Jye said on Friday.
The warplane crashed 30 minutes after take-off from an air base in the southeast of the island during a simulation of a ground attack, according to the defense ministry.
The two Singaporean servicemen were killed and two others hurt when the jet crashed into the complex where they were staying while participating in a training programme, Lee told reporters.
The pair killed were not taking part in Friday's drill, Lee said, adding that the cause of the crash was under investigation.
All remaining F-5F fighters participating in the drill -- 60 or so -- were immediately grounded, but Lee said the live-fire "Han Kuang (Han Glory) 23" manoeuvres would go on as scheduled next week.
