yea i noe..all the more they should pressure them strongly and have the assurance from them that such a thing can be prevented...Originally posted by Icemoon:In all fairness, the accident has nothing to do with SAF. It was certainly not negligence on SAF's part.
The Taiwanese military should pay the bulk of the compensation.

but the victims' families need to be 'realistic' on amount of compensation they can get
Dunno la but to me, this quote seems disturbing to me
From the defence minister some more...kaoz..further dampen the trust and belief i have with the minsitry already. i think the corporal is already finishing and the private was his understudy.. poor lads.. By now, the body of the corporal will be flown back to SG already for burial..
i oso wonder why did they emphasis on this issue???? cmon mindef... lives r lost... someone's son died in e line of duty while serving our country n u had to emphasis e compensation has to b realistic????Originally posted by slowmover:its disturbing to me too!why not ask himself and all the ministers to be realistic with their paycheck!1st day the serviceman died government already worried about the compensation wtf!
It's regrettable that such a term can even come out, and I'm not surprised.Originally posted by life2121:i oso wonder why did they emphasis on this issue???? cmon mindef... lives r lost... someone's son died in e line of duty while serving our country n u had to emphasis e compensation has to b realistic????
a bit evil here... but wld e situation b different if some big a$$ shot's son was killed instead? wonder wat tis 'top brass' had done to deserve their more-than-peanuts payrise!
i do understand dat they wld render their utmost help to e affected families but i jus somehow cant digest e specific line on e compensation part...Originally posted by LazerLordz:It's regrettable that such a term can even come out, and I'm not surprised.
MINDEF, I feel, should have already offered full and unconditional assistance and compensation based on market and war risk insurance rates. Further compensation has to be demanded from the Taiwanese side, if the BOI on their side shows that negligence was to blame.
Yup, the compensation part was really insensitive.Originally posted by life2121:i do understand dat they wld render their utmost help to e affected families but i jus somehow cant digest e specific line on e compensation part...
as 4 e taiwanese side i really wld like 2 c wat their explanation was... my impression of them is dat they always shift e blame to others...
ya dats wat i m afraid of...Originally posted by LazerLordz:Yup, the compensation part was really insensitive.
Regarding the Taiwanese, only time will tell. It's not efficient work when they are concerned.. look at SQ006..
I am not sure if ROC military will provide any compensation. Since we are in their territory and as an outfit operating under their command. If they do not have rule that compensate their own ROC individual than certainly do not have to compensate SAF. not to mention it is foreigner and we are not officially there until now.Originally posted by LazerLordz:Yup, the compensation part was really insensitive.

The pilots were in partial control of the plane. They chose to crash onto the camp site to avoid killing the taiwanese crowd elsewhere?Originally posted by Arapahoe:I am not sure if ROC military will provide any compensation. Again I am not sure u can talk compensation at all. They may do it out of good will. But certainly not now when their up coming high profile military excercise is to shield the invasion from PLA.
they gonna replace the ageing f5 s already...Originally posted by tokyofire:Taiwanese media already analysis the 3 possible.
1. Technical problem
2. Human error
3. *didn't really catch the meaning*
Isn't 2 lives also a great loss? But i won't want to say more...just my deepest condolences to the families and may the people working in our overseas and local camps receive divine protection. Too much blood has been spilled in peace time already....Originally posted by Icemoon:The pilots were in partial control of the plane. All right .. they avoided a PR nightmare. They probably saved millions of dollars 'cos there is no need to compensate their own citizens. In comparison, paying for our 2 dead soldiers is peanuts to them.
We are not operating under their command. Training detachments are training detachments.Originally posted by Arapahoe:I am not sure if ROC military will provide any compensation. They will not. I wouldn't put it above the Taiwan MINDEF to find someway to push the blame over to us, like the SQ006 incident, if they are as good at covering backside as we are.Originally posted by LazerLordz:Who cares if their exercise is related to deterring any PLA aggression? They made a mistake, they should jolly well show some balls.
Maybe your friend has to understand that his burnt weekend is much lesser than the pain of the families of our dear fellow men of SAF who lost their precious lives...Originally posted by Unknown_X:if im not wrong, they could be from 6 sir. my fren went there for training. and just last night when i was out with my fren, he was told he had to go back to camp. cuz some soldier passed away in taiwan. if my fren have more news, i'll see whether i can update here anot.
