Sign On: Worth It? Wise? Outside No Good Job Prospect? How?

hey peeps..i nid some advice eh...i am thinking of signing on as i kinda feel like if i finish ns liao..like nothing out there for me to do..might as well sign on better...but one prob la..i got a criminal record when i was younger and i got admitted in Reformative Training Centre...so do u guys think i stand a chance to sign on??? btw my pes status is BP

i think most prob i will go for those chong sua de spec ba...i don really see myself being officer..my grades aint that good too...maybe infantry or try guards ba..nt really interested in navy or air force..

hor say...there are lots of ppl like that - dunno what to do, sign on, get big sign on fee.
whether you get accepted depends on the vocation you r interested, obviously for more classified posts / strategic posts, you will find the slope slippery. Also, I think this will affect your progression / highest attainable rank.
If you are two-minded, why not do some courses or further your studies? I think the stupidest thing to do is to sign 6 yrs jus becos there is nothing out there, you are only going to add more sufferings to NSFs who just want to serve and f**k off....

hahaha..i've also planned to further my studiese in SIM..but that will nid tons of money..so thinking tat maybe signing on is good buck also can like save at the same time...hmmm..

Well, your criminal record might make things difficult if you want to sign on in more sensitive units.
Just one thing: make sure you sign on for the right reasons, i.e. because you enjoy being in the SAF. If money is the main or only reason, then I say you shouldn't sign on at all, for chances are that you would regret it.
I've seen quite a number of regulars signing on for the money only to regret their decision later on. -

Do ur BMT then go to unit first then decide to sign on.
My advice: Dun listen to the bullsh!t on sign on during BMT. Many dudes fall into that trap. POP liao then go to unit because only unit life u can really open ur eyes big big to see how SAF really operates.
As Fudgester has mentioned, u really got to experience and see if u are the military type person. Thinking to oneself that one is a military type person is really deluding oneself, u got to experience then u are eligible to make that decision. -
my advice is tt, if u r looking at a career in SAF, sign on during BMT. dun be some idiot sign on during poly juz for the JPSDS money den in the end regret. maybe u sign on transport sup or supply sup, at least u dun get 2nd contract, u will have relevant knowledge like managin stores, managing a pool of vehicle and stuff so can have a skill.

Are you enlisted or awaiting enlistment?
Most people sign-on way before entering NS, like JPSDS, coz they can get alot of money that way. However, once inside, they regret it but its too late. Too break the bond is too prohibitively expensive.
There is a reason why SAF offer so much money to sign-on before you enlist and its bcoz most people would never think of signing on after being having the SAF-experience.
However, some people sign-on after they enlist because they do find a career in SAF meaningful and worthwhile. However, they tend lose out on that big chunk of money that the SAF offer for those that sign-on before they even enlisted.
So, if lets say if you are not under any scheme that give you huge monetary rewards to sign on before enlisting, then I recommend you enlist 1st, see your life there and decide about it later on. -

Anyway i dont believe u wont be able to find a job outside, go for higher education. -
