Defect to enemy side what is going to happen to your loved ones and families if the enemies finally wins and takes over Singapore?
What if Singapore wins, what is going to happen to you when the govt asks for the enemy side to hand over defectors as one of the peace conditions?
Better ask yourself, what kind of enemy you are fighting? What is the enemy is some radical force bent on ethnic cleansing? Can defect to such a side ah? -

Furthermore those pes C slackers are also holding official jobs in SAF, like company clerk, storeman, RP etc. So you still need them. -

some degree of National service to compliment SAF. The area that I see where SAF might increasingly need more regular soldier are to operate a lot more High tech equipment. These may need individual who are more professional rather than a 2 years stink and leave.
As for Logistics support, bare in mind that if your logistics fail to support your battle group you can kiss the fight goodbye. As military expert have this to say "before you talk strategy n tactics lets talk logistics". So i would look at outsourcing of logistics function carefully. -

since the dawn of time, barbarians have been living in armed encampments, be it a tribe, town, state or country or watever u wanna call it.
for the SAF to be even considered a viable military force, yes, there is a need for a conscript armed force. -
