  any comments abt signing on the navy? i heard tat there's this career transition scheme being launched to facilitate the transition of regulars to the marine industry when they complete their naval contracts. so i dun need to worry much abt not finding a job when i leave the navy.
  
  and besides, if im enlisting into tekong tis sept for bmt and IF i decided to sign on navy, will they allow? if sign on can i choose to sign on straight for officer? or still need to undergo selection for ocs?

  all this scheme wont work if u dun work for 10 yrs ...this is how the management think of it
  
  its not true for career transition,my fren fm air force also no chance to to ST avionics , they only select the best of the best
  
  next u can sign on when u enlisting , they will pull u out of NS posting to the navy school
  if u sign on for navy officer then u will have to go for interview
  
  see how u perform

  so if u sign on as officer dun really need to be selected for ocs? im tinking of the naval technical officer scheme, as it relates to my qualification.
  
  furthermore, during ur yrs in the navy, are u possible to go for some degree courses provided by the navy?

  if dun need to be selected for ocs to be officer, aren't we compensating for the quality of officers we are getting? If this is the case, in my opinion many people will just sign on to be an officer lo...

  degree courses ...depends on whether u are specialist or officer
  
  specialist u can only do degree when u are encik
  
  officer is immediately after u are commission... it takes another 18 months

  and is it a muz to pass ippt every yr like in the air force n army? is it too late to sign on when ur in tekong as normally navy bmt is in changi base rite?

  Well, Navy is part of the SAF what, what do u expect? Don't need pass IPPT? It is like a organization, where u need to meet certain criteria, and part of the criteria is to pass ur IPPT.
  
  Because in the Squadrons, there is a fierce competition to pass your IPPT or even to see which ship get the most number of silver/gold. Not passing ur IPPT is bound to get u "condemned", as the ship'S COXN, or CO will most probably pressure u to pass. And in your yearly appraisal, if u don't pass ur IPPT, it may not get u a good apprasial. Getting C and below for 3 years consecutive could see u getting fired.
