so long it dun affect ur daily job scope shld be ok. consult ur immediate superior 1st my PC is doing is part time studies now..
nite classes is possible only when operational needs is not compromised.
can apply for some subsidy and study leave during exam.
but wad if ur in the navy? as ur required to sail frequently?
Ya... I met some regulars who are doing part time degree...
Actually, not some lah... many
Yes. Ususally from Tech or Service vocations where the time is more stable.
Take NTU degree as an example, part time studies start from 7pm to 10pm. Ususally take 3 or 4 days in a week (Mon, Wed, Fri). Each sem take 3 modules.
Depending on modules, each module have project, continuous assessment and finally exams.
The problematic part for regulars are the exam because basically all ur leave is reserved for the exams. Ur annual leave will be divided into 2 sem's exam, taking around Apr-May and Oct-Nov. Ususally, what I observed, they take 1 week for each sem.
It is a huge commitment. Because ususally after class at 10pm, reach home around 11-12, u already knock out. Then weekend sat, sun have to piang tutorials. If u dun do ur tutorials and u choose to copy then u are going to suffer for ur 1 week leave to revise for exam. Then during exams u are going to stuff 3 modules of work into ur brain in 1 week.
Ususally by the 1st year, 1 sem, nearly 50% drop out. To add on, there is no sup paper like in poly. U fail one module, u "tah pao" AKA repeat the whole module again for 1 sem. Meaning, if u fail 2 modules this sem, u are going to take potentially 5 modules next sem.
How hard is the module? Take the NTU EEE part time course as an example, one EEE module covers 1 year of work in poly.
As I said, it is a huge commitment because once started u basically have no life. The only 2 periods of rest is the vacation period but as u are already working as an regular, u technically have no rest.
