What?! Pasir Ris is also called Hendon?Originally posted by Gedanken:Have you actually read the kid's first post? He's asking about what he can expect when he arrives at Hendon, in particular anything to look out and prepare for. What use is your answer to him?
And yeah, I have attached out - personally I preferred doing real work and being a useful part of the unit.
Haizz... Mr Ged....y must be so offensive... i do not agree its stupid.... cock and bull.... they were told to me by my CDO platoon mates .... they were sharing with us their instructors and training .. how they were being moulded from civlian to soldier ... they are honourable pple as far as I know even thought these red beret pple were only 19 or 20 years old then .... I believe them till today ... why must these CDO gang up and concoct these stories ... what do they acheive ? They are not the braggart type and they behave professionally from a fellow soldier point of view ... they were even a regular CDO sergeant with us thenOriginally posted by Gedanken:Sheesh, enough with the c0ck-and-bull stories already - you're makiing yourself look stupid.
Your CDO platoon mates? How did you come to be in their platoon? Apart from what you've heard, how do you know that any of what you're saying is true? If you don't, why relate it?Originally posted by seancannot:Haizz... I heard of even more absurd stories but these are from pple whom I have never seem them wearing the red beret hence I would never post here
i sort of believed the stand by bed at parade square thing..cos my best fren went thru it...i hold CDO's Officer selection very highly as it did not always benefitted the scholars.....'O' Level guys with the right calibre were also given a chanceOriginally posted by Gedanken:Gee, that wouldn't have had anything to do with your rendition of Que Sera Sera or seancannot's scaremongering, now would it?
cant stand your arrogance .... these pple are my medic course platoon mate ... my course buddy is a cdo too.. what irk me is the accusation these pple whom i respected were lyingOriginally posted by Gedanken:Your CDO platoon mates? You find my phrasing offensive, I find your proliferation of secondhand rubbish even more offensive.
IMHO, I think the trainings are very manageable. What is important is to be a team player and not a selfish bastar.d. If you stay in the unit, you will be seeing and working together with your bmt mates for the rest of your 2 years nsf life so it's best to build a good relationship with them. Enjoy your time thereOriginally posted by sosianz:Hi i will be enlisting into the commando camp at pasir ris this June.
I know the trainning will be xiong but can someone tell me how xiong is it,
anything to prepare or look out for? Will there be a hell week or something, if
there is, how isit like? Hope u guys can enlighten me thanks alot
Now THAT's gawd-damned sensible - no gung-ho BS and no Zen/Que Sera Sera/it'll-sort-itself-out piffle, just good old common sense. Watch and learn, boys and girls - positive demonstration here.Originally posted by killtuna:IMHO, I think the trainings are very manageable. It was just my nickname for the usual flaming found in threads relating to CDO.Originally posted by crosshairs:Well, now that the flaming has ceased, can someone please tell me what red haze is?
I m but people say i sure die -.-Originally posted by crosshairs:Can you explain your nick? I noticed you joined the day you posted the query. You don't sound very excited. Why?
Those people are not posted to CDO. Disregard their comments. They don't know the real story.Originally posted by sosianz:I m but people say i sure die -.-
I don't understand what all the flaming is about. We turn 18, we serve, we F off. Simple.Originally posted by LazerLordz:It was just my nickname for the usual flaming found in threads relating to CDO.
Sorry to disappoint you but there will be no Hell Week or anything of that sort for you.You may however be asked to do just a little bit more as a Commando recruit but dont worry you will survive your 90 daysOriginally posted by sosianz:Hi i will be enlisting into the commando camp at pasir ris this June.

Well, some people want to forget NS, some people like me gained a keen interest in military affairs after NS.Originally posted by crosshairs:I don't understand what all the flaming is about. We turn 18, we serve, we F off. Simple.
And what Era/Year was this or which army are you really talking about? To be honest there are all kinds of instructors in the SAF but still there are certain things even a madman wouldnt do.In the past there were numerous people who were punished for mishandling soldiers but I really dont recall seeing or hearing this story.Originally posted by seancannot:Not sure whether they still do that
CDO a lot of tekaning
My course mate CDO platoon mates... they were made to dig out facaces but stare at them while having lunch ..
Not given food and drink during feild training ... instructor throw their food to the dog and ask them to snatch back from them and drink from drain
Made to stand by bed at parade square after mid night
Their instructor a bit ......
not only 2 yrs, the same bmt mates will also be togther for the rest of your resevice. Some of them might become your PC & Coy-2IC.Originally posted by killtuna:IMHO, I think the trainings are very manageable. What is important is to be a team player and not a selfish bastar.d.
