I believe my answer to him to be very useful. Really. The camp takes care of everything, hell you can even turn up naked with not a cent on you and come out of there in a few weeks feeling you have achieved something just by the fact that you are still alive. And who gives a $%X:^ about the "unit philosophy"? Really?
Kid, just freaking jump into the orgy of training and enjoy the extra allowance for having more fun than other guys.

It's not particularly surprising that you hold this view, though. With your disregard for unit philosophy, it's not surprising that you were despised and seen as an outcast, to use your own words. If you don't conduct yourself as a member of the unit, don't go expecting to be recognised as one. I expect that few, if any, of the lads would go on a mission with you, but then again I don't expect you to understand the implications of that. -
Haizz... Mr Ged....y must be so offensive... i do not agree its stupid.... cock and bull.... they were told to me by my CDO platoon mates .... they were sharing with us their instructors and training .. how they were being moulded from civlian to soldier ... they are honourable pple as far as I know even thought these red beret pple were only 19 or 20 years old then .... I believe them till today ... why must these CDO gang up and concoct these stories ... what do they acheive ? Rock, I can buy stand-by-beds and turn-outs at any given time - instructors can be expected to keep the men on their toes and build up resistance to the "shack cannot think" problem. Drinking out of drains and fighting with stray dogs for food? Come on - I was there 15 years ago and that sort of thing didn't happen even back then.
It's because of rubbish like this that CDO has gotten the bad rep it's had over the past few years.
As for O-level officers, my understanding is that that my batch produced the last two O-Level men to come out of OCS back in 1992. Both men were more than capable and they're both majors today. -

IMHO, I think the trainings are very manageable. What is important is to be a team player and not a selfish bastar.d. If you stay in the unit, you will be seeing and working together with your bmt mates for the rest of your 2 years nsf life so it's best to build a good relationship with them. And what Era/Year was this or which army are you really talking about? Not given food and drink during feild training ... instructor throw their food to the dog and ask them to snatch back from them and drink from drain

not only 2 yrs, the same bmt mates will also be togther for the rest of your resevice.
