hi anyone from 30 SCE? care to tell me more bout life there? is it a stay out vocation???? a lot of admin time??

First of all good luck to you, most probably you'll be joining either alpha coy or plant coy for CEC (common engineer course) ----> FPC (field pioneer course) if you have just finished bmt. Last i heard, Its a stay in unit, even for the clerks.
Its at Jurong camp (upper jurong road), personally i feel that everything about 30sce sucks.
the SFI food suxs too, quite a depressing place to be in, in my opinion. Used to be from delta coy for bmt.
The guys in there deserves better treatment, considering being a field pioneer is quite xiong. -

finishing pit stage ( platoon integration training)
going to turn ops
that means my coy can pass stanby duties to them in july at last! -
Siong indeed. Very regimental too.
I remember the RSM coming after us HQ MES people for not wearing headdress when we were there for a workplan seminar.
He was ruddy-faced and all.
You don't mess with him. Although I'm not sure if he's still there, it's been like 4 years. -

How can 30SCE be siong now when they have even phased out the MGB?? What do you guys do now for training?
During my time there, we were made to do SOC whenver the "alarm" sounds. Tons more horror stories during those days. One of which is to have four people carry the MGB bridge part (top panel - about 200kg) and run around the gap.
SFI food sucks? I remembered lao lan cooks serving me and we have to bow our heads low and greet, and thank them.
Do you guys care to share how siong it is now? I am really interested to know... -

Not very lao jiao. I was from Delta Company, ORDed close to a decade.
I dun like to compare as there is no ends to comparision. For example, I may have gone through a siong NSF life. But compared to my predecessors in the 70s and 80s (they hand carry the Bailey Bridge - heavier than even the MGB), I think I got off easier.
But you guys should really thank your lucky stars on the life you guys have now in army, or even in 30SCE.
In my days, 30SCE is considered really hell. Worse than even the commandoes. Nowadays all i hear about 30SCE is about how it has slackened a lot and is no longer as siong.
I heard you guys are even learning carpentry to make up for the lack of carrying bridges!
Do you know that many of us old guys are still having injuries sustained from carrying those bridges? I for one, nearly lost my left leg when I fell while carrying a bridge part in the dark. -
And oh yeah, APB is a really easy bridge. We dun call it the "eye power bridge" for nothing. The only remotely siong part is the stores.
You ever built the MGB?? -
