Army vs Coporate world

In the corporate world, the employee is very dependant on the boss. He/she must please the boss. If the boss is not happy with him/her, the boss can sack him/her anytime and find someone else to replace him/her. So the boss is always at a advantage. It is a Employee-Boss relationship.
In the army, it is not a Employee-Boss relationship. It is a Subordinate-Superior relationship. The difference is that the Boss is the 1 paying him/her his/her salary while the Superior is not paying him/her salary but merely supervising him/her. The superior cannot sack a person if he does not like him/her while the boss can. The superior can only transfer him/her to another unit if he does not like that person or give him poor grading for his/her performance. The superior only have a slight advantage over the subordinate in the sense that he can ask the subordinate to do work for him.
In the corporate world, the boss can sack you anytime. You basically have no form of protection against being sacked.
In the army, the superior can't sack you. He can at the most only recommend to CPC to sack you. It is highly unlikely that you will get sack before your contract ends. Your contract with the army offers some kind of protection for you.
In the corporate world, everybody is working hard not only because they are rewarded for their performance but also because they do not want to get sack.
In the army, the nsf can't be bothered. They are here just to serve the 2 years and than fuck off. For the regulars, 80% of them also do not like the army. Some will even purposely have poor performance so as to force their superior to recommend to sack them.
In the corporate world, if you are able to be promoted and achieve your target, you are considered as smart and capable.
In the army, you are only considered smart only if you know how to chao keng.
In the corporate world, many people will be jealous if they see you being given alot of work and responsibilities by your boss. This means that there will be a high chance of you being promoted or given pay increment.
In the army, many people will be happy to see you being given alot of work and responsibilities by your superior. This means they will be given less work to do.
In the corporate world, bosses are good in giving rewards to their employees.
In the army, superiors are only good in giving punishments.
In the corporate world, bosses use rewards to motivate their employees.
In the army, superiors use punishments to motivate their subordinates.
In the corporate world, bosses can chose their employees.
In the army, superiors are given their subordinates and they can't chose. -

In the army, we are only being paid $350 a month. In the coporate world, we are being paid at least $1000 a month. You expect us to put in our heart and mind and soul to do our work in the army when we are only being paid $350 a monthe? FAT HOPE!
Oh and not to forget. Other than the higher salary, another reason why I stay long in the coporate world is also because my boss and collegues treat me well. In the army, I am being paid a miserable $350 a month and my superiors treat me like &#@$ and anyhow give me extra duties, confinements and even DB.
Let me tell you. Even if I can do the work in the army, I wouldn't want to do too.

Clarification: When I have to see idiot and bastard superiors like you daily, my attitute naturally changed.
Also, attitute depends on $. Like what is mentioned before, $ makes the world turn.
You give me high salary in the coporate world and I will have good working attitute. You give me low salary and meeting idiots and bastards like you daily, I will have bad working attitute.

Clarification: Hmm. What benefits can you give me to motivate me to work harder and to improve my work performance? Absolutely nothing except for Off days which you never give too.
So do you think I really care whether my performance is up to standard anot? Whether I have good or lously performance, I still get the same miserable $350 a month. So why should I work hard or improve my working perofrmance?

It just simply show that you will be a better person if you can manage anger and negative environments. surely you wont get a cent for this but people will look up to you.
NS needs people to defend the country. $350 is not pay, its just allowance.
They can just use 350 to hire 10 blangahs(no offend) rather then one of us.
But you should know why our country needed us more.

I wanted to sign on as a officer. Than I got pes C and I than aimed to sign on and become an outstanding spec/WO.
When I go into ns, I become just like you or maybe even worst than you -

Actually i think they are same in one way that it really depend on your superior whether they are good or not regardless ,whether u are in army or outside loh,but army is once u sign on that it u are struck in it ,but outside,if u do not have a family,u can alway change jobs but too often also not gd lah.

i think there r totally different. why....for very basic in the military You talk with your RANK, you talk with punishment, punitive.
In private sector if you have no experience to manage people u will be throw out within 3 months, there are no punishment but creative motivation. There are such a thing call human right, worker rights, provide humane working condition. You raise your voice they quit.
In the SAF you know those guy below you have to serve their 2 years. In private sectors your guys can quit anytime and you may lost your most experience people if they are pis off. if bonus are bad. -
Army and coporate world is totally different..
For 1, you have to take ippt, soc, road march, eat field ration etc etc but you don't have to do all these in the coporate world..
Those stupid comments by saf superiors are being used to deceive you to work hard for them as your superiors have no means to motivate you so they have to resort to using lies and deceptions to deceive you to work hard for them..

Some of my NS peers told me that in the Army, must 'keng', keep low profile and do as little as possible. They also criticised the OCs, PCs and SGTs, like how stupid they are whenever an order is passed.
After ORD, when we all started work, I continue to hear them blaming their superiors, how stupid the way things are done in the company. I also doubt that they put in any more effort than they did in the NS.
From the angle of individual human, I think the attitude remains the same. If you always think that you are smarter than your COs, OCs, PCs, SGTs, you will continue with this thinking even when you move to the commercial sector. You will always think you are the smartest chap around, but don't know why you continue to be an employee and subordinate.

One can choose to spend one's time and energy scheming on how to 'keng', or to improve on one's abilities. One obvious example is dealing with difficult people, whether they are superiors or subordinates. We'll no doubt meet difficult people inside or outside the army.
You may think that there is no incentive - low pay, lousy people around you, etc - but yet in the end you are no better. They probably have no better impression of you; a scheming, skulking, pretentious, untrustworthy, slacking individual.
Alternatively, you might do well to do your part well. You will gain positive skills and insight when you come out. You are in a different league from the kengsters. Not to worry if you think you are doing more than others - you gain their respect. Yet you learn tact, to prevent yourself from getting pushed around. Then again, don't be a sycophant.
Nevertheless, most Sillyporeans can probably understand the 'chao keng' logic better than any other logic. -

Its is now politically, or shall I say officially, incorrect to say that one should accept very low pay because it is a Singaporean male's duty to serve and defend the country. That we should be motivated not by pay but by our sense of duty to our country.
After all, our govt is saying that we have to pay our ministers alot of money so that they will serve the country well.
So now, I hope they will not use the excuse of "honour of serving the country" as an excuse for the poor pay NSF are getting. -
