hi guys, i have a question. my good buddy just passed out as a commando officer from ocs recently. interestingly, he signed on as a commando spec before he entered NS. so this cames into my question. did he get a crossover from sispec to quallify as a trainee due to his excellent performance during his bct and aslc ? from wat i know, you have to be in the top 15%-20% of your cohort from your bct and make it through sispec and then top your cohort in sispec and make it through to ocs as commando officer.do these cases happen that often? maybe his superiors regconises his abilities or leadership to lead and gave him the nod to ocs? thnks

Every batch of SISPEC recruits will have a few people who performed well going over to OCS so its not impossible. His performance must just be very good if he initially was posted to SISPEC.

That i am unsure, maybe someone from commando can answer your question.
Essentially 2 if i'm not wrong. A level intake and poly intake. A level batch goes in in april, PTP in march. Poly intake is in July, PTP in June.

thought i had seen a post earlier saying that his degree is abt 375 degree and still enter to CDO.
Criteria? If I am not wrong, at least you need to weigh 55kg (minimum weight to parachute) and height should be above 1.65m or higher.
hi all. just had a few questions about the commando BMT period... my cuz jus went into commando BMT on july 10th.. how often will he be able to book out during the BMT period? since the confinement period over already. also during BMT period can request to take leave yet or not? how far in advance must request? typically only get to book out on friday nights or is that up to officers in charge?
cheers! thx in advance for replying!
In cdo BMT your cousin will generally book out on sat afternoon and book back in on sun night. But some times, though rare, the OC gives longer book outs as a reward for achievements attained by the company. (i.e ippt gold etc). The possibility of taking leave during BMT is near zero. However special cases are granted by the OC, which happens to be a very nice chap. Cheers
I know both OCs personally.. The previous one is a monster who treats nsf like dirt. The current one, personally I know him as a nice guy, but dont expect him to be that nice when training commando recuits since a standard must be there. However, there is more welfare for nsf under him as compared to the previous one..
and they get to book out every weekend is it? if they are on guard duty for NDP weekend, does that increase the chances for them to book out the weekend after? how likely is it that they are not allowed to book out? am leaving soon for a few years to study overseas and would like to see cousin before i leave lah :) thanks for all the info!
Hi guys, regarding NSF for ndu, can I know what is the starting pay uh? Can just say range if its not allowed to say exactly... thanks!

if my napfa is bronze and I am enlisted for Commando, usually when do I have to go in for BMT? just after A's or next year?
Hi, ive applied for commando specialist and their interview and the interview will be tomorrow at cmpb recruitment centre.how many interview sessions will there be and how my intake will be,will i be posted join tekong bmt or they will post be to commando bmt ?
Jarady : As you have not met the minimum fitness requirement for BMT (Silver award), you will enlist 2 months earlier than normal BMT batch, which is the PTP batch. So be prepared to get enlisted very soon after your As
Han Solo: I am not sure how many interview sessions you will go through. All I know is that you will be posted directly into Commandos. I have not seen any NSFs entering Commandos during any phase. As NSF commandos, you are born and bred in Hendon!! For Honour and Glory!

I still don't get it. I remember companies, platoons, sections, down to LRRP teams, but I never came across detatchments.
Then again, I grew up in the old barracks on Hendon Road. Seems things have changed.
