A CSO from CMPB called to inform me that I am posted to Tekong...
I pleaded with them my determination/ perseverance for a place in CDO BMT.
The CSO then told me CMPB will help me to appeal, but no guarantee/ promise is made.
How?
@johnlee215: I think the letters are distributed to those selected alr is it? I've got a few friends of mine who have already received notice about intake into CDO next year.
is it if you've yet to receive the letter now, means you're likely to be taken to the Tekong batch? I went for CDO VA this year too. Looks like I'm out (:

No, the cdo officer didn't ask about interest. But on the sheet of paper, I expressed interest in pursuing medicine in the university and he whacked me truckload of questions on "why am I here for the VA since I wna study medicine". Problem is VA not I choose one =.=
P/S To all other cdo hopefuls, I think it'd be to your advantage not to indicate interest in medicine for the VA.
If you study medicine, you return to NS as Captain Medical Officer [CPT(Dr)] sia...
I'm interested, then interviewer asked me if I'm keen to join CDO and asked for reasons.
When he said I'm in, okay and I walked away...
If only when leaving the room, I should have gung-ho to shout at the top of my voice, "Commando! For Honor and Glory!"
this reminds me of a true real-life story shared by an old forumer who was a Commando.
during the VA selection, this was something similar to what actually happened...
Interviewer: "So, are you keen to join the Commando family?"
Candidate: "Do I have a choice?"
Interviewer: "No."
Candidate: "Then what the fark is this VA interview for?"
and he really got in...
this old forumer said that that's the spirit which the Commandos are looking for...
This evening I got a call from CMPB double confirming that I'll go Tekong BMT on 14 Feb 2013 as I didn't make the cut for CDO due to the attitude/ spirit needed to be a CDO...

Guess I really need to reflect on myself...
Aiyo, don't need so harsh on yourself ba. Or you can try and hope getting into Guards? Or perhaps command school? Can challenge yourself in other ways even though not on cdo ma.
Got my letter today. Enlisting 14th Feb too, same as you LOL!
Looks like we've got affinity.
I'm guessed from my point of view that my mistakes for CDO VA was the personality test. I went as a team player, hands on and risk taker...etc.
Perhaps that are not what they are looking for...
Since both of you are enlisting to Tekong, please continue here:

I may consider to sign on as CDO officer.
Is the shortest contractual bond as a CDO officer and;
Is the shortest sponsorship/ scholarship bond for CDO is the Short-Term Contract scheme?

I've seen these links already, yet I still don't understand...
Should I personally go to CMPB Career Centre and ask the Career Officer there?
Should I call the NS Career Recruitment Hotline for direct and official answers?
What is the shortest sponsorship/ scholarship contractual bond available?
If there is no short-term bond, how do I sign on for my pride, and CDO honor and glory?
If all are long-term bonds, do I see myself a career in SAF till retirement age?
If I break bond halfway, do I need to pay back SAF all $ allowances plus penalty fees?
How?
Hi all,
I am new to this site and live in Australia, I have a couple of questions about serving in the SAF, albeit in the 80's, and was wondering if anyone could help out.
Does anyone know if it was possible then or even now, for someone serving in the SAF to do a martial arts course (Taekwondo) conducted by the SAF and gain a Black Belt qualification?
Back in the 80s, most TKD instructors already obtained black belt before entering NS.
Still need to be converted at the School of Physical Training at SAFTI to be SAF TKD instructors.
Cheers!

Yeah, that was me. As it turns out, whether or not you want to be a Commando doesn't mean a whole lot - they go by whether they think you're capable of the job. Madness any other way, really.
Hi all,
I've just received the letter for Vocationsal Assessment at Hendon Camp on 21st Jan . And to what I've understanded up to this point , it's a VA for Commando .
Thus , can someone help me answer the following doubts ?
1) Is it a must go attend the Vocational Assessment ?
- I've seen people writing about people not going and they hadn't had any problem. But the letter stated about fine + imprisonment if fails to comply with the notice .
2) I've some friends that've received the letter too, is this letter being randomly send or with a criteria ?
3) What happens during the VA ?
- Is it the same as the medical training except with an additional interview + physical trainings ?
4) What's commando unit actually all about ?!
Thanks in advance !
1. To Go.
2. Chosen ones/ Selected few.
3. Selection test.
4. For Honour and Glory.
Hi everyone, I have a few questions:
1. Is there a PTP batch for CDO? Those that fail NAPFA can become CDO?
2. What is the probability of passing the VA?
Thanks!
Hi can someone quote or explain to me a full route of a CDO regular? I'm thinking of getting the poly scholarship and then continue as a commando. Thanks!
