i know NPNT.
but i saw a MID mercedes with 4 stars.
who is eligible to be chauffeured in that vehicle?
it was at around 7pm after rochor exit of ecp, along the flyover before the traffic light junction. -

i remember i was walking in camp when TWO asean TWO star generals in TWO cars passed me....i freezed and didn't salute.
days later they walked past me and I freezed again...cos they came out of a blind corner. I forgot to salute again but they smiled at me only...phew.. -

..imagine this...if it's a general from our SAF what u think will happen....so i got this impression that as in your case foreign generals r corteous to the local soldiers but stern with their own troops....just like our parent generation like that treat other children nice but ya own child strict...see the difference...?

In some countries it is not that all difficult to become a general, especially in one of our northern neighbours if you know what I mean... less worthy competition.

I once went to the house of an army colonel in a country up north. A few years later (yeap took just a few years) he was eventually promoted to a 4-star general and became the Chief of Land Forces, which was in effect the 2nd highest-ranking officer in the whole country, just behind the Chief of Army (which was also a 4-star general). He promoted very fast because he was a favourite of the then strong-man prime minister. -
It was a Thai General in that car.
Not sure if i can say his name and appointment.
But my unit hosted him ahahaha quite stressful for us.
There was 2 unmarked civilian cars and 1 unmarked van with him. -

haha it was published in the routine orders that majog-generals would be coming. hell i wouldn't have the guts to look at their shoulders directly man...
