when you go for your ICT you will be an Old bird. Halfway thru your ICT years they will try to upgrade you. My friends got upgrade in reservist for the first time in his life he had to do IPPT at age 37

aniwae wat's the hurry? can't wait to wear ur greens again? dun worry they will surely contact u when they wan u back, like ah long like tt... yah like wat the others haf said, wait a few years... if u goin IHL, then got chance put u in holding list or something... if ur unit is IHL unit (means alot gg uni one), prob they will get u ard 2 yrs after ord, everyone go back for ict while still in studies. if u in combat battalion during nsf, most likely u will noe ur reservist unit. i've seen C9L3 ppl dun need to go back for such ict... -

So? Lots of troops change vocations during reservist, most of the time only via semi-formal refresher classes instead of proper training courses. MP, RP, PTI, ammo tech etc. -- they'll all do something else after their NS. Those most lagi sway kena infantryman again, even if it's only PDF. (Must dig trench again, so imagine their shock ~lol~)
I wouldn't be surprised if the TS's old unit had converted to towed Arty prior to ORD. (Mine certainly did.) Even if his did not, he'll be like some NSF school instructor joining a reservist unit ~shrug~ The field SOPs will take some getting used to, but the basic theory/concept stuff won't be completely foreign (having learnt it during his course time). -
i gt a fren who PES C2L2 while my other 3 frens combat fit. But the C2L2 kana reservice 3 times already while we(combat) do not!!!

I hear that SAF is trying to cut doen the manpower for reservist so they can tap on the technology.

Oh, I see. Different wavelengths. You're right: no more mortarmen in the formation now, all gunners. I was from 21SA, back when they it was still SP mortar & not SP howitzer like now. We'd trained to convert to towed arty before ORD, a fate which I figured my unit "descendents" might've also kena -- unless you're telling me the SAF has proper 'Primus' BNs for reservist now.
Armour still have SP mortar or not? In my time, some SAR units have such detachments & I recall one or two of my coursemates being posted there after vocation training. Any of them reposted back to Arty for reservist would've likely found it hard, due to the lack of experience operating on a BN level. This readjustment was what I'd in mind too. -

ha ha, no lar. I was Mortar Commander in Armour, you know the mortar that they put in M113 last time? When I was there, we still using M113. Then I disrupt and go abroad to study. Then injured myself over there, do surgery, come back, downgrade, posted to become admin, but because of surgery, I basically served my 3 months on MC. -

My reservist unit 1 year call me twice ask me go back reservist. Somemore its the unit that I was serving in during my NS days, so they always ask me go back lim kopi. KNS -

Of course not.
What may happen, I suspect, is that you may be switched be switched from one holding list to another. Doubt any DIV command will want aging "inactive virgins" anymore, when they can expediently get by using those IOU cases doing make-up ICTs. But, that said, anything can happen. If you google around, there was apparently a sizeable buildup of dormant reservists at HQ TRADOC in the second half of last year. Many forums fielded queries on the postings.
My broad understanding is that MINDEF, TRADOC & all the combat divisions (3th, 6th, 9th, 21st, 25th) have their own reservist holding lists. Not sure about PDF; they might recruit liberally from the non-ops ready register (MINDEF or TRADOC).
