How is life in this unit?
Is it Stay in for storemans and clerks too? -
If your friend is a PC, then very jialat. Because you not only look after a platoon of soldiers, you have a fleet of vehicles as well.

if ur fren is posted there as Detail Clerk, then drivers will constantly pester him to assign them on simple transport duties.
store man should be pretty relax, not much items to handle if i recall correctly. During my time, the store was quite small and most of the time is closed. -
canteen still got the tissue prata?

A lot of charges & extra duties for the drivers side, correct? I mean, when they do something wrong.

hmmm...drivers always have 1 foot on paddle and the other in DB. I was from the 3rd TPT Battlion, almost 60% of the drivers from the 3 companies there got into DB at least once. some multiple time.
I remember 1a particular incident, when one driver having less than 1 month to ORD, got into an accident. Before going to the office for the charge he told everyone that if he got >2 weeks DB, he'll run. When the officer gave him 1 month, he dashed out from the office and tried to escape, the MT Sgt who try to stop him got punched in the face.
guess what? they caught and drag him back to the office and the officer reduced his charge to 2 weeks! it was the MT Sgt that pleaded on his behalf. -

My other brother was in either 1st TPT or 3rd TPT during the early '90s. Dunno his actual appointment -- I vaguely understood he was a MTO, but surely there couldn't have been only one MTO in a TPT BN itself? -- but, from what my mom told me, he'd signed a lot of extras during his time there. Not so much for incompetence, but that he was often held accountable (regardless of whether personally at fault). To some extent, he was also willing to take the rap for minor (non-chargeable) offenses by his men.
That left an impression on me: these units really go by the SOPs. -
My platoonmate was a DY S3 at 1st Tpt HQ... when i met up with him..he told me he became the escort officer for the drivers to DB more than 40 times in his tenure

there're 3 MTOs in 3rd TPT. Yes, drivers get DB and the rest of the staff plus officers get extras.
i was a vehicle electrician class 1 at 3rd TPT, taking are of 100+ vehicles from the 3 companies with only 4 staff(me included). I think now no more such vocations as veh maintenance is outsourced.
i remember having contantly to help the MTOs and my OC to cover up troubles that the drivers got into while on the road, to help them escape DB and at the same time try to maintain a better record for our TPT Battalion. my crew has to be quite creative in many incidences to create excuses for the drivers. in return, the OC, MTOs and TPT Sgt treated us very very well, never get tekan.
