Of course. To do so would be an ungrateful dog. I have nothing against and fully believe in the SAF. It's some of the people inside that i'm worried about.
Some forumites think they damn power cause they "see the light" and live in a "cutthroat world" and view those who sign on as weak and aimless. Politics and balls-carrying occurs in every organisation, even SAF. It's even more cutthroat inside. At least you people don't have to worry about IPPT, SOC, ATP, as factors for promotion. but what am so worried about? I'm not even a commander. -

firstly
i no cantonese... but seeing saf functions in my 2 years already makes me lose faith in the organisation as a whole... my vocation let me work and see saf in battalion, brigade and even formation division level..
secondly,
r u quoting a fine example happening in the saf? well unfortunately, i have a good boss-employee working relationship...
thirdly,
i didnt see regulars as weak. what fighting spirit is a core value when the private sector offers an even more challenging outlook? if u study sun zi art of war, at the very least understand some to fence off "combat politics" in the saf... by believing in the saf, u r actually indirectly believing in us.. US.... the projected 300,000 reservist Ops Ready NSmen in war time.... already fighting and fencing office politics in peace time... the internet openly publicised regular strength is 25,000.
aimless... might have. this friend of mine have a good family business... but he chose instead to venture out in another company of his field and succeed... the thread point is... those who signed on in the 1st place didnt even venture out in the private sector to seek a challenge b4 returning to the green uniform donning career where he once had served for 2 yrs. -
i believe many of us who ORDed with no intentions of furthering our studies will have this feeling of uncertainty of not knowing what job to look for.
hey, even i myself have this feeling when i ORDed. but after i settled down with my first job, i realised that as long as you are willing to learn, one can slowly picks things up. most companies knows u are new and won't expect u to know everything, even if u have no related experiences or never studied it in school.
signing on for the sake of money is an incorrect minset, which will most definitely leads to regrets later when he hears how well his other peers are doing in the outside world. -

So 1 day if Osama feeds you, are you to be a loyal dog to him too and defend him at all costs?
Yes outside people don't have to worry about IPPT etc. But they have to worry that if the boss don't like him/her, he/she will get sack.
At least you regulars have a contract and can slack and take mc often without having to worry about getting sacked.
You regulars can take excessive mc without getting sacked but those people who work in the coporate world can't. They will get sack if they take too much mc. -

1) When he was 15 years old, he see his dad use handphone. So he asked his dad for handphone. Dad said, " earn your own money then go and buy"
next thing he did was sign on under the LAYE scheme (SAFEC)
He literally used first pay check to buy a handphone.
2) To honour promise he made to gf's parents. He made his gf pregnant and gave birth. Her parents made him promise to marry their daughter once he earns enough money. The deal is, if he work towards honouring the promise, her parents will keep the kid a secret from his parents.
So for 4 years, he has a kid his parents dunno about. -

but then hor, bringing up a kid is not simple. even more so if both the guy and girlfriend don't have any saving at all. at such a young age, even tougher if either the guy or the girlfriend or both of them are the playful type, those rather go outside and play than look after their kids type. -
