NDP March Past Music

  I've heard that this year's NDP marchpast have a different beat (melody, for fellow musicians) to it as compared to previous years. Can anyone confirm it?
  
  If answer to above statement is yes, has SAF changed all the marching music and done a total overhaul or is it just once for this NDP?
  
  Does anyone know?

  I think your thread not relevant lah... I'm talking about this years' (2007) NDP parade, not the 2006 one.

  is it becos the music was recorded by sso instead of saf band? heard sth like that. and ya the orchestra will be playing live on that day.

  I am pretty sure it is SAF band. And march past is the normal music (forgot the name lol).. but the very beginnig, they play somthing different, which I cannot identify.

  It's SAF Music re-arranged for Orchestra, I believe, for this year's NDP. If I am not wrong, the SAF Band will not be there this time. The SSO will.

  You go to NDP 2007 record for me lah!
  
  If it's really SSO you think so easy to get? SAF band.. we may have "internal source"... SSO if you got network I will salute you, even if you only recruit (provided you give me music first)

  Yes the music for this year's NDP is performed by the Singapore Symphony Orchestra, and conducted by maestro Tsung Yeh (of the SCO). All marches were re-orchestrated for orchestra by our own Singaporean composer Phoon Yew Tien (who also re-scored the present Majulah Singapura). He also wrote a few new marches like the GOH march and inspection tunes.
  
  If anyone's interested in SAF military music, keep a lookout for the SAF Band website come September/October. There'll be a revamp and one section that's been planned is for recordings of these music to be made available for download.

  P.S. Do keep a lookout for the national anthem that's sung at this end of this year's parade, after all the fireworks and what-nots. A new arrangement by Eric Watson, and I think it's really nice!

  Btw, I heard the fly past version (terrible audio quality) grabbed off somewhere, and it sounds "normal" to me.

  Not the fly past one, the one right at the end either before or after the pledge taking.
