  It really depends..
  
  you need to have the Official ranks in chinese from SAF.
  
  you cannot just take a PRC or ROC army rank and assume its equivalent, this is especially when you are talking about non-commissioned ranks.
  
  in most cases, commission ranks would be equivalent.
  
  The problem comes to senior non-com ranks because the jobs being done by the rank varies.
  
  e.g. Master Sergeant in SAF is usually a CSM or a technical specialist.
  But in ROC, Master Sergeant is usually an RSM.
  
  This is why our 1WO and 2WO who goes ROC for exercise usually get "demoted"
  to senior sergeants.
  
  Same goes to 1st, 2nd & 3rd sergeant ranks, these are new ranks to make SAF pay scheme more flexible. but they depart from the traditional structure.

  No luck with my dictionary, which was published in 1999. Did find something online, though. My copy included lot of phrases which MITA has standardized for local media use for a long time now. Here's such a compilation at zaobao.com now:

  Note: The whole list is more about identifying the big-shot appointment-holders, agencies & military bases. Nothing about the lower ranks, so I suppose one has to keep any eye out when reading the Chinese newspapers, which should be a good source with NDP coming up.
