COMMANDO HELP =(

hi everyone i need some advice on this:
im 18 this year just finished doing my preliminary medical screening at CMPB, after which i received a letter to report at pasir ris for further reporting order (which apparently i had qualities to be a commando)
but i dun think so....i was quite sure they made a mistake, im not fit, height 1.75m, weight about 72 kg, have alot of fats on my body but i dun look fat ( i was bloody fat at secondary sch but slimmed abit)
on top of that i fail my napfa test cos cannot do pull up
ok maybe i have perfect eyesight, is PES A and stuff but im the only child
yet again another part of me wants to go to this commando training but i dunno whether i still have a chance.
at the pasir ris commando camp thing my results were:
pull up - 0
push up - 26 in 1 min
sit up - 39 in 1 min
broadjump - 2.18m
flexibility, endurance, agility and balance test was very good -
Only child doesn't count anymore.
It's the PES A thing as well. Not many people are PES A anymore.. -
so do i still have a chance to be picked? even though im not fit? i think i did quite good for my IQ test

Don't worry, fitness can always be trained. I am sure during your BMT there, you will be whip to shape in no time.
Most commandos end up with extra nuts and bolts in their body, due to injuries sustained during training. -

Fitness can be trained. Even from zero pull-ups. I assumed they took note of your good mental endurance, agility and flexibility part.
Height not a issue oso. Personally met seasoned CDOs who are much smaller in bulit than me and I'm short for my height.
But hell, when they go thru their paces.... like woooo. It's all in the mind, they say.

I was no commando but I know the selection criteria doesn't bother about your physical fitness.
You may be Fat Bob but they will make you fit, very fit....by hook or by crook.
Good luck. It will be very very good mental endurance training for you. -

Yeah.... it's not so much about the fitness, but about your PES A rating.
I knew a friend of mine who was somewhat on the heavy side (though not overweight) and was pretty unfit. He was selected to be a CDO anyway due to his PES A rating.
And by the time he ORD-ed, he not only slimmed down by quite a bit; his abs, pecs and arm muscles were the envy of many. -

I remebered Ged or sm, said before that the cdo's training philosophy was "you can be trained".

i thought commando 365 days all stay in prepare for ops as they are the first inline if anything threatens singapore.... that time during ndp rehearsal the commandos suddenly run off say got activation.... wth.... commandos nt fun sia.... although they seem to be getting best combat unit every yr for a few yrs nw....

Pes A + Not so perfect but low degrees + Smart ---> CDO
but of course there are exceptions. Perfect eyesight requirement is more important for NDU i think since they have to dive. -

train up urself a little before u go in...its always gd to have a little head start then wait till they start to whack u into shape inside...haha..all the best!

I'm fit. My 2.4km run is around 8 mins plus. Can do up to 15 pull ups. But I'm in Pes B cps my eye sight is more than 600 degrees.

Question: If a NSman is selected for commando or NDU, does it mean that his chances of becoming an officer will be decreased? Or even his chances to advance in the army officer ranking?
For example, let's say person A is a very good potential to be an army general one day (good leadership and smart etc etc etc). But when A enrolled for NS he was determined to be a good fit for NDU/CDO. So he is sent for NDU/CDO training as becomes an NDU/CDO. That's affect his chances of becoming an army general, right? -

so far think about being a BG
There are alot (really alot) of stipulations, requirement and red tapes to be encountered before a BG is to be BG-ed -
None of the above matters in the selection. We've had guys who pretty much resembled potatoes with feet when they enlisted but ended up making it to the beret. Needless to say, they looked very different when they passed out.Originally posted by lost.soul:hi everyone i need some advice on this:

Nah, that stuff about staying in all the time isn't true. There will always be a standby company, but even they're a a few hours NTM - all they have to do is make sure they're contactable. BCU and parades is fun for all of about five minutes - the rest of the time it's a pain. Give me a strike mission any time - at least it's not boring. -
