I think blessing is for good luck, good health, not ward off evil.
When the religious leaders blessed the newly graduated cadets, did anyone hear what they say ?
I think they blessed the cadets for a successful career or leadership, not blessed them from meeting ghosts. -

Ok this is how it come about !!!
On earth there are human laws and below there are their laws. But there is a midway which both world laws does overlap.
As you notice that old movies that show Justice Bao and other officers - their hat have a piece of jade on it. This symoblise their official post, in some show they show that the spirit will not dare to appear before them unless they take off their hat or cover it with red cloth.
Same as today, instead of hat with jade , nowaday becap, berets have replace the hat and jade have replace by crest . But the fact remain - if you are appointed official - you are the law keeper of this world which unknowingly to you some power over the midway land.
For official cadets - the commissioning parade is the part which appointed you all as the country as officials - also the religious leaders are there to recognise this and bless you .... so for those who are cadets yeap you may stand there and curse over the length of the ceremony - do enjoy this blessing as I have found out it does comes in handy !!! -

I a bit pantang one, after ORD I stuck the crest up onto my school bag, and another one on my pencil case, which I bring to every single exam ....
