regarding guards and sispec

  wad do guards do for their ns? guard duties for 2 yrs?

  i seee cos guards sound like do guard duty and sispec sound like six packs mah so i thot u need 6six packs to enter it

  Ok, sorry, but it's not often I see something like you've posted.
  
  Guards are considered elite infrantrymen so they're less in numbers than normal infantry. Even more elite guys are the commandos. Guards do heli-rappelling. You know, throw a rope out of a copter in midair and those guys disembark via the ropes. That should give you an idea of their strike capabilities - rapid insertion into battle.
  
  Anyway, Guards is a combat vocation, means their primary combat function. SAF combat troops can be Armour, Artillery, Infantry, Commandos, Signallers, etc.
  
  SISPEC is a learning institute in SAF. Stands for School of Infantry Specialists.
  
  Recruits go in BMT and they can be selected to become sergeants or officers. Sergeants-to-be go to SISPEC and upon graduation, become corporals and they go on for vocation training. After that, they become sergeants (specialists).
  
  Anyway how old are you? When are ya enlisting?

  18..going in 26 october, i v paiseh to ask my mom abt it wait she laugh at me so ask here..thanks for the info...btw do i get to use any rocket launcher in bmt ?

  GDS = airmobile troops, aka heliborne in local context. But they also train for seaborne assaults, but not aimed at behind enemy lines like the CDO. Overall, they're a rapid deployment force (RDF), lah. The latter definition is self-explanatory enough.

  Your BMT performances will determine where you go after bmt, but the sispec route is more likely than the Guards route.
  
  For normal Guards infantrymen, some of them already have their BMT in tekong before their new posting. Some of them to fill the gaps caused by OOC ppl from the unit's own bmt. Selection is done through an interview at tekong. The recruits are chosen for the interview, but you can voice out if you really want to join Guards.
  
  If you take the Sispec route, you can still end up in Guards unit but as section commanders for the majority. Guards conversion is very different for men and commanders btw.
  
  Injuries aside, i think joining Guards is not bad. Even though fitness(IPPT) standard is higher, you get to do rappelling. I went from failing IPPT in BMT and couldnt swim to getting Guards silver and learning how to swim breaststroke properly. These are what i treasure most from my NS.
