CDF's Ceremonial Sword

Some pictures I found off the net. The first one is pretty low in res, and so you cannot really see what I am asking about.
Is the CDF's ceremonial sword different?
Can anyone describe it? -
Oh, and just a side note, I noticed LG Desmond has a pretty bad posture in that first photo, huh!

interestingly i have the same questions about the CDF's sword. Notice for major parades that require him to wear the No.1 cermonial attire, he has to carry the sword by the handle (btw that's proper terminology of part of the sword)
So other than the fact it's a bit painful to hold a sword in that position for prolonged period of time...i think the general design of the sword is the same as any commisioned officer. -
Nah...u can notice, that the scabbard is alittle curved. While the normal commissioning sword is straight.

I think it is called a Schmitar, just tradition. Its curved slightly at the end.
There is no real need to put the sword on 'carry' mode. Wonder why he is torturing himself by carrying the sword in this manner throughout. -
i believe it due to the fact that he has to stand up and sit down often.. so when sitting down the sword will be in an awkward position. must as well carry it when standing and leave it to rest at the side when sitted

actually i think all the time is liddat de lehz, if u got sword and u are nt marching, u shld hold onto to the sword by the handle. otherwise if u marching, then bo pian, jus let it swing lorz -
There is a different. For the normal commissioning sword, when sheathed, it is held by the side not by the hilt (<-- proper terminology, not handle) but by the scabbard just below the hilt. Look at the second picture, and notice how commander OCS holds his sword.
Notice that the CDF holds his by the hilt. -

i thought scimitar is the middle eastern type like OCS logo that kind?

Did some digging around the net and found the following.

It is an article on the mameluke sword. Which happens to be a Scimitar/Sabre.
The current regulation sword for Generals, the 1831 Pattern, is a Mameluke style sword as were various Army Band swords.
Considering how most of our traditions are remainders of the British presence, this could be the answer to my question! -

secondly, no one wears a blue beret in no.1. they wear peak cap.
thirdly, i don't think there's just a rule saying once in senior staff command, auto change to blue. -

anyway.. regarding 2 medals... all i know... the order of temasek and order of nila utama is a standalone medal as in no ribbons etc.. sumtin like wad he wearing... but... dun think he is awarded by it b4.. not sure la.. -
