Removing wisdom teeth during NSF

Who has removed or is planning to go under the knife to remove their wisdom teeth as an NSF?
Benefits are twofold. Firstly, you get free (or very cheap, I'm not sure) removal of wisdom teeth which might cause painful problems next time in life.
Secondly, long MC.

if causing u problem then remove lor. otherwise. jus leave it la. its a painful procedure. it might be anesthetic, but the needle that give the anesthetic is pain itself too.... then they saw the tooth into 2, then take a plier to pull both halfs out, then saw ur mouth back.....

hmm. yeah i've considered that, but who knows whether they'll cause me problems in the future or not.
might as well remove when NSF, save money plus get MC.
How is it like after the operation...how long before can eat like normal? Is it so painful you're bedridden? -
can only eat porridge for the next 3 mths. u cant open ur mouth too big after that cos u open to big the stitch might come loose and u start drinking buckets of blood....
well, if u gonna remove it anyway, ya, might as well in saf.

seriously speaking, most likely if you remove all 4(thats if you ahve 4), you can't eat solid food for 3days like that, and you have to bite on a guaze for abt half a day -
Dunno about wisdom teeth, but I had my ingrown toenails operated during NS ... three times! Once during course-time & twice at unit (all the medical center). Two were moderately painful but the last one went over pretty badly. The MO was clumsy with his knife, opening up a deep wound that needed switches & 2 months' Attend B. Luckily he was apologetic & purposely lenient whenever I went back to report sick *wink* But still have the scar ....

What about speech? Will your speaking be affected and how long?
Can get MC for how long if let's say you remove each teeth one by one to 'maximise' the MC?

Hmm.
Think I'll go for dental appointment and ask the dentist about whether I should extract.
But v tempting la.
1 tooth = 5 days MC
4 teeth = 1 MONTH MC
If extract also don't know want to wait till going to ORD or use it while my unit preparing for NDP...Hmm. -

I had mine taken out during NS. 5 of them over 2 sessions (including one in-the-way pre-molar) plus tooth filling.
- call your dental centre and ask to go down for teeth checkup + referral to wisdom teeth removal. dont be late for the dental centre appointment!
- dental centre refers you to hospital or MMI, they will book appointment for you
(but be prepared for last-minute changes when the dental officers are deployed due to ops requirements.)
do at least inform your superiors out of courtesy that you are going for wisdom teeth removal, don't pull stunt. i had to change my appointment to a few months before my ORD after i have more-or-less trained my understudy a bit then can do take out teeth.
