Sign On: Worth It? Wise? Outside No Good Job Prospect? How?

it been 3 months + since i last started a topic here.the last time was b4 my enlisting,i had since POP and just finish my 1st week of AIT.my appointment is 2nd law gunner ( matador ).can any ex matador gunner tell me about the weapon?disadvantages or advantages.i only know its very heavy.
i was told tat im a group2ic.wtf is grp2ic?i thought theres only section2ic tat in charge when sect comm is down.
i was tinking of signing on as infantry/guards specs.the previous time i applied,i failed because i fail my ippt.i had since pass my ippt and MIGHT wan to try applying again.
i somehow like army life and what we do.i noe its very different frm been a man than a commander thats y im posting to ask more...any regulars here?
the only reason i feel signing on as specs is stupid because specs seem to suffer most.
few weeks back,the DS sign 3 extra becoz somebody in the platoon is moving in the file.wtf rite?
another incident is when the serg sign 7 extra becoz his men on guard duty nv salute and greet the div commander.lol rite? -
I can give you some info bout MATADOR. (FROM WIKI)
The MATADOR is among the lightest in its class. The warhead is effective against both vehicle armour and brick walls. The weapon has little backblast, making it safe for operation in confined spaces.
The MATADOR's projectile is insensitive to wind due to its propulsion system which results in a highly accurate weapon system.
The warhead can be used in both High Explosive Anti-Tank (HEAT) and High Explosive Squash Head (HESH) modes against armor and walls or other fortifications respectively. Selection is done by extending a "probe" (most likely a fuse extender) for HEAT mode and leaving the "probe" retracted for HESH mode.
The longer front grip handle prevents the soldier from misplacing his finger in front of the muzzle during firing, thereby eliminating the risk of injury. It also allows the soldier to rest the weapon on the ground, thus improving accuracy when maintaining a firing position. The foldable pistol grips similar to the ARMBRUST allow the soldiers to lock the weapon, preventing accidental firing.
Field trials were conducted to tailor the position of the optical sight to SAF soldiers. The chosen sight magnification provides soldiers with good field of view while allowing for more precise aiming. A Picatinny rail allows night vision devices to be mounted for night operations.
A wide, soft, rubber sling replaced the conventional hard, slim canvas sling to reduce the stress on the soldierÂ’s shoulder due to prolonged slinging. The new sling also comes with a quick-release buckle to allow rapid switch from sling to firing position.
Similar to the Armbrust, the countermass counteracts the recoil of the weapon upon firing. The countermass consists of shredded plastic which is projected out of the rear of the weapon when it is fired. This plastic is rapidly slowed by air resistance allowing the weapon to be fired safely within an enclosed space. In addition, the positioning of the countermass takes into consideration the centre of gravity of the weapon to ensure good balance for greater accuracy. -

Only AIT now? Still early days, get a taste of urban ops & unit life first.
Mono-intake? Geez, I hope this won't come across the wrong but you sign on, you must have an ITE cert (the SAF can sponsor you to get this) & even then it'll be the lowest on the pay scale for specs (compared to A Levels or Poly). -

if u die die wanna sign on why not try Navy or Air Force? at least pay is better than in Army...
even vocations like AMS,AVS starting pay also beat Army combat pay hands down...

think u might be better signing on air force as senior tech or sth.. the lifestyle and pay is better

But, don't sign on la... what for? You'll get all the behind the scenes shiit on top of those you hear about. Signing on specs is the worse thing. And I heard there is a promotion delay for all specs. Not sure if it is true? -
Navy must think first hor. If you don't like ship-board life you'll die. Very difficult, unless you're implying studying part-time. But where got time if posted to operational unit, if he's eyeing combat spec? Life in the early years will alternate between postings to the unit & to the formation school or HQ, roughly in 2-year blocks.
If he signs on as logistics spec, he must mostly likely begin as a storeman or driver etc. too, i.e. always on call & doing duty on the "service" side.
Best chance to upgrade more quickly as a technical/engineering spec, except I'm not sure he has the basic academic qualifications, for a mono-intaker. No more SAF Boys' School these days, too. -

hmm,im higher nitec and prolly going for combat vocations.i like guards but heard its dam xiong and underpaid lol
i tink the pay aren't tat bad for higher nitec ( same/higher than a levels depends on no of subject pass ).however still nid some feedback frm everybody.
so far i ask my sergs and some like while others can't wait to get out of army. lol -

and while same time sign contract, ur a level/poly regular will raise thru rank a little faster than u. pple SSG, u still 1SG... but same time signed contract ok...
