The snipers under the army use the mini hecate ar? Singapore so small why use such a long range rifle? Maybe adopt the.50 caliber rifles? Or the M14?

Sadly....recently army open house...dunnoe this guy sian me anot...but says that SSG has not been replaced yet. And my friend whom went for sniper course at SIW...also revealed...SSG is still very much in use.

Anyway 8.6mm mini-Hecate is a smaller version of the full 0.5 (12.7mm) PGM Hecate II.
Why need long range? Common sense will tell you...the further away you start to try killing him, the higher chance u can kill him, even if u miss.
Say you camp 1km away...you miss.. you still got at least 200-300m chance to try before he enters into his rifle's effective range.
If its sniper vs. sniper even better chance to survive.
Longer range = Greater survivability = more possible enemies killed, there's never a rifle that is "too long range". -

For one, the PGM is rather cool looking. Fits right into the 3G army robocop nonsense.

YAY!! we got .50 sniper rifles... is there only 1 kind of sniper in the army?don't have scout sniper or designated marksman? And if got only 1 kind of sniper means that they are trained to use ALL the sniper rifles?

Infantry and Guards Brigades have a sniper unit each.
Ever other type of sniper, if you need to know you will know, if you don't need to know, you'll not read it on this forum.
For rifle types, Steyr SSG and PGM mini-Hecate, and others...if you need to know.
Long ago, when all infantry sections were using only M-16, each section had 1 guy designated as marksman, equipped with a scope for his M-16, but this role has been redundant, since now every SAR-21 is scoped and more accurate than a M-16 with sharpshooter scope.
Supposedly the SAR-21 had an option to refit with 3x scope for the section marksman, but I don't think its implemented yet for SAF Infantry. -

really meh? Is it target too big, very hard to see exactly where u aim?
I don't know leh, I left the infantry family and re-vocationed already...dunno abt infantry.
But I wish in real ops, I can have my SAR-21 to be fitted with 3x scope and M203. Since fighting war, might as well be equipped with the best, just in case kena contacted. -
