Member of Parliament letter?

Today my unit got one more case of Member of Parliament letter.
Previously got around 3-4 cases in recent history already. From what I see, the servicemen involved in sending the letter were more or less 'successful' in getting what they wanted...haha.
Have you seen any cases of MP letter in your unit? Was the NSF successful in getting his problem solved or did he fail and end up marked like nobody's business. -

my camp what i know is that the oc talk to the guy one to one. explain to him nicely and try to tell him not to pursue the matter anymore. -

Aiya...MP letter is NOT equals edict from heaven.
If the guy tell the MP a made-up story, just to get a letter...the officers in SAF also not stupid. It is the SAF officers who make the final decision whether to believe the story anot.
If chao keng one, can even kena charge malingering...
The only time MP letter really works is unless you really really got grievances, really genuine case but nobody want to help u, then you can really convince the MP to really help u....then the issue may even get to MINDEF HQ....
but if the MP fight for you until lydat.. then if kena found out your story is fake or keng, charge u until u go DB. -
I use to see my NS unit's CO reply to MP letters. Some CO's replies to MPs really classic.
Excerpts from some replies.
"I am concern that XXX should train with his unit. If he does not attend this coming ICT, he might endanger the lives of his fellow soldiers."
"XXX is known in the unit as a person who is irresponsible and has neglected his duties as a NSman. We should not encourage him more by deferring him."
"I have a duty to ensure that all my men are trained to a high level that is acceptable by the SAF. That is my responsibility. All my men includes XXX who has asked for deferment."
and finally, the best reply was only one short sentence.
"I cannot allow XXX to be deferred."
as far as I know, the CO of the unit has the final say. -
Haha. Dunno if the CO will dare to reply like that if the MP is from Marine Parade GRC.

got ... I've seen one written by an up-and-coming MP (then, he's a much bigger shot now) ... for a chap requesting stay out ....
chap's a "body-builder" ... whatever champion champion lah, requires special meals which the cook house cannot provide lah .....
