BMTC POP Posting Order: Anyhow Randomised Lucky Draw?

how do the ppl in the army choose each one of the person to various vocation after their bmt? do they just choose randomly , or they got see their height and weight? or their education background or something? or just anyhow choose like that.

Supposedly computer logarithms, lah.
I taught an Arty mono batch before, so can answer that part (but dunno how common the practice is across the SAF). Those who tio my unit intake, the BMT instructors get to wholly decide -- recommend -- who to retain after POP.
The combat-support weapons were more labour-intensive in my time. My active-time outfit numbered about 125 ex-mono intakers (mortarmen & M113 drivers), of which 10-15 were "extra" troops to offset any ensuing downgrading cases, detention-barracks cases, SAFSA attachments, etc.
The new BMT batch conscripted an extra BTY, making it about 200 recruits in all. So my estimation is that about 65-70 percent of them were retained for Arty trade course, & a slightly-lower percentage thereafter for operational life. The rest were presumably sent back to the CMPB computer for other vocational deployments. Never found out where they ended up, though as a reservist I ran into two or three later on at Amoy Quee. (They became storemen.) -

What is confirmable is that, once you step into Tekong, their whole focus is whether you're commander material. (OCS or SISPEC) For the unselected, the SAF doesn't really care where they end up, cuz the vocations available to them are mostly combat-support anyway.

back in the yr 2000 , when i went for my medical check up , i also press option 1 for my iq test , and i was the first one to step out of the room .
anyway i was posted to tekong after that i posted out to be a driver .
anyway alot of regulars that i spoke to , told me the best vocation as an nsf is to be a driver , WHY????? .... Cos drivers are the only ppl , who step out from the army with something . ! CLASS 3.
U CHIONg sua for 2 yrs , then come out, what do u get ? noting !!! just stories to yaya to your friends who have yet to enter army, Or come online and be a internet warrior and yaya to the rest how siong and garang ur unit is.
For those who want their right hand to hold a packet of kopi peng and their left hand to hold a piece of rokok . !!! Driver is the vocation for you.
DRIVERS MOVE THE ARMY.

i think you're forgetting the medics. Apart from the many certs they receive during training, the life skills imparted is also useful for the working world.
