6 DSSB

I just got my NS Unit that i attached to 6 DSSB leh.. anyone can tell me which camp is it? And is it very jia lat unit?

It is a Division Service Support Base, not a frontline fighting unit. Basically to provide support and service to 6th Division and units under their command.
Your job scope will depend on your appointment as it varies greatly....
Of course for operational secrecy, can't explain in detail everything the unit does, but its no big deal...dun worry, can't be more siong than frontline units. -

Sure or not? I knew all the "DS" units under DISCOM stood for "Direct Support" so, for a moment there, I thought there's been a name change. But your designation isn't correct too, leh, cuz DSSB is combat support & not service support.
DSSB should still stand for Direct Support Supply Bn; their sister units are DSMB (Direct Support Maintenance Bn) & DS Med Bn (Direct Support Medical Battalion). Each combat DIV has one of these outfits, commanded by an internal DISCOM (Division Support Command), but operationally they're more often deployed as smaller elements or detachments during BDE-level Exs (in rear staging areas). DSSB itself shall be in charge of things like petrol, ammo, food/water & other such stores, when out in the field.
It's a rear unit, but not rear-rear. Second-line soldiers, to be precise, athough as a formation they style themselves more as Army Logisticians than as combatants. Put it this way, their troops will still move out in helmet & rifle.
I do know Sembawang Camp is supposedly known more as Home of the Logisticians, & to a lesser extent Kranji Camp too. But no idea whetehr 6 DSSB is housed at either place. -

I would say 6DSSB should be somewhere in the 6Div area maybe Nee Soon or Mandai since that was where the 6Div HQ was last and currently located. I know 9 is all at the in selarang and i think 3 is at Jurong which are all the location are of the Div HQ. -

Thanks. My perception has come from an old commemorative edition of the Logistics Fomation (celebrating their Anniversary sometimes in the '90s). Checked my copy last night, & it did mention that Sembawang Camp & a new Kranji Camp were supposed to house all their units, the latter site designated for their HQs & planning facilities.I would say 6DSSB should be somewhere in the 6Div area maybe Nee Soon or Mandai since that was where the 6Div HQ was last and currently located. Reasonable. Wasn't that sure cuz I can vaguely recall seeing a prominent DSSB signage on the shuttle-bus route towards the recent AOH. Guess that's the 3rd BN at Jurong Camp, then.
Among the Arty equivalent too, I know only 3 Div Arty is based in Amoy Quee (the Formation's other "home" camp, along with Khatib). 9 Div Arty, for example, is in Selarang too. -

I was from Brigade level, so Division unit names not so sure.

I can answer your question as my friends are from 6 DSSB,hope that you are combat fit as they are really elites and are badly needed.
As for how siong or not,it depend on your active n reservist commander and officer.They have an reservist officer who is so on to such an extent even the active commander ask him if he is really a reservist officer. -
NS commanders can be really super on, esp MAJ and above ranks.
These kinda pple usually serve their higher appointment by volunteering, and they're super strong in their conviction and beliefs of why they need to do NS.
