customized jockey cap

  why sometimes i see people with jockey caps with their unit's insignia patch stitched on the front of the cap?
  
  is it they go e-mart to customize their cap?
  
  u guys got do this to ur cap?
  
  then i also see some with insignia badge pinned on the cap.
  
  then once i even saw an encik with his name stitched onto the cap.

  my jungle hat used to have my callsign sewn onto it. but have sinced removed liao cuz that callsign became too "famous" hahahaha

  u should see the OCS SSM's jockey cap...
  
  in front = unit insignia
  right side = his rank and name
  left side = his appointment
  behind = his actual rank in no.3 pinned and service bar..
  
  
  
  got one time, he wore an empty sbo for PAC together with my company and i comment that his jockey cap easily weigh more than his sbo..
  
  after that, pls dun ask what happened

  i think you mean nickname. unless you have a formally initiated callsign by your own squadron. then that's another issue. or your unit have a culture which deals with callsign.
  
  anyway. callsign is for life. not happy use. not happy discard.
  
  otherwise. its nickname. period.

  I think for him it's in between a nickname and a formalised airforce-style callsign.

  the word "callsign" should not be used interchangably with the word "nickname".
  
  for the guys with callsigns, be it pilots or controllers, callsigns are not nicknames plucked off the sky and used, but a series of "initiations" required prior to you being able to use it.
  
  then again. i guess its another topic another day.
  
  but i think careful application of words should be use.
