That shot fired should help clear the chamber, if it doesn't, you should get a chamber explosion which is very bad. At least, if you are still alive, you can get out your ET tool and bayonet to close and fight instead of being caught pants down trying to clear the jam.
You are supposed to clear all the oil that comes in contact with the air produced by the combustion as the shot is fired such as the barrel insides. Prior to firing.
In case you are wondering what if no time to remove the oil, you don't apply the oil if the weapon is to be kept in readiness state.
