Don't think so. In S'pore context, the civilian legal system overrides the military one. As far as I know, the police has finished its investigations, & the SAF its own BOI. Subsequently, Teo has been -- in this order -- charged in the Subordinate Court; sent for psychiatric exam; test results ruled as unsuitable for bail; switched to the Community Court; & now bumped up to the High Court.
Nothing insidious about the legal shuttling, cuz only the Supreme Court (High Court) is empowered to hear criminal cases of Teo's severity.
What I'm curious about is why his Geylang buddy's case hasn't been heard yet. That one was bailable &, last heard, remains under the Subordinate Court's jurisdiction. -
Dave's ex-gf is still happily together with that "baby" of hers.
Poor Dave, I really pity him.

Standard format : Defence lawyer will come out with some 'mental', b/g problems, etc. Then he will be found guilty, and then there is mitigation, and sentenced according to the guidelines. After that it will be a case forgotten until a similar incident happens again.
I am more concerned about his friend. The guy who was with him and supposed to know that he has a weapon and never reported him. If I were his friend, I would probably be persuading him to surrender. And before that can happen, both were arrested together. That's the poor guy ! -

SINGAPORE : The case of the National Serviceman who stole an army rifle will be heard in the High Court on November 27.
On December 5, a mention is scheduled at the Subordinate Courts.
Dave Teo Ming has been charged with stealing a rifle, unlawful possession of eight bullets and carrying a knife in a public place in April without lawful purpose.
His lawyer, Abdul Aziz Yatim, appeared in court on Wednesday to fix a date for a pre-trial conference.
He said Teo appeared via video conferencing from Queenstown Remand Prison.
The defence is considering whether to get a second opinion from another psychologist regarding Teo's state of mind at the time of the crime.
The prosecution had earlier produced a psychiatric report to show that Teo poses a risk to others and himself. - CNA/ms
